It was termed as in-authentic and unnecessary. I almost fell off my ergonomically correct chair when I actually heard Denise say that people don't like the "S" word, which actually are writing out your STRENGTHS, which let's face it, are the reason that your customer is buying from you. They believe in your ability to solve their problem, and they are willing to pay you for it.
I felt so validated when I just listened to Denise Michaels' radio interview on "Direct Sales Talk Radio" on the net: http://directsalestalkradio.com, because I knew all my sales knowledge and marketing acumen, and 10's of Thousands of Dollars through Graduate school really did amount to Something!
Many of us know that Denise is "The Expert for Marketing FOR Women". That was a real BOOST back to my confidence, Denise. Thank you. So Ladies & Gentlemen, if you want to Expose your business in a way that puts $$$ in your pocket, and be Positioned and Aligned with the Universe so that you CAN feel Entitled to your Abundant Living, you might just want to check out her book as well.
This is one of her best tips on scripting from a Master Salesman in Direct Sales. But everyone can use this, very basic and puts your customer at ease: "I'm going to Help you."
Hmmm-- Yup, that's a Keeper, Denise. I don't want to give the store away, so go listen to Denise, and buy her book. It's Sooo worth it! You will feel empowered and SAFE doing what you inherently know is right. TRUST yourself. Be Authentic. & Be Prepared!!
Love & Light to you all, Daphne Marina

I'm not pro or con scripts in particular. People need to use whatever tools work best - However (impish grin) I love to "throw" people off their script. It's interesting how they recover or not.
Usually I ask for the bottom line - the price, before they have "sold" me on the benefits and they really don't like that :o)
Best!

There's no "one size fits all" solution that fits everyone and every situation. Some people are really good at talking off the cuff - others find that terrifying. Some find a script makes them feel more confident - others find it paralyzing.
What I did say - so that people get my remarks in context - is that when you find the words that truly work and help people get closer to a yes - stick with them. Don't pitch them out just because you're bored with them - if they're still working effectively. Marketing is mostly about pleasing your prospective customer and not so much about pleasing you.
All the best,
