Dear Sir,
BELIEVE ME THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I VISITED YORU SHOWROOM.
All along I am customer to Shopper stop (When I Bought for just Rs.1500 they volunteered four years ago they made me a First Citizen Member and I am enjoying the benefits) for the last 5 years and I never faced any situation like this which I have gone through. Even after spending Rs.35000.00 in your show room no one ever offered me an Inner Circle card. Surprising is it not?
I wish to alert you about the worst experience I had with your Lifestyle Show room in Chennai. On 8th October 2005
I visited your show room and purchased the following materials.
1. Control Insoles 1 No 2. Citizen watch 1 No 3. Titan watches 2 Nos. 4. Gitanjali Jewels - 2 No's
All the above worth Rs: 25000 vide invoice no: 154069 dated 8th October 2005. (I think it is the invoice no. It is so diff to identify the invoice no from your invoice) I have attached the invoice copy in this mail.
After reaching my home I found that the Titan Watch: Model No2253ym02 and Citizen watch Model No: AP3034-51P are not working at all. Due to my Work pressure I was not able to return them immediately.
After 2 days I got a call from Ms. Madumathi from your Chennai show room saying they have not billed for one watch and requested me to come and pay the amount. Then I visited your show room on 15th to pay the amount which they said they have missed to bill it. But on reaching your store she told me that she has found out that they have also not billed for the Gitanjali jewellery as well and asked me to pay for both the watch and the jewellery. The reason given by them was a new person joined in the billing section and he has missed to bill. I accepted that and made some more purchases for Rs: 10000.00 again vide invoice no: 159999 dated 15th October 2005.
During this visit I told them that both the watches are not working. She took the watch went inside When she came back she told me that the Titan watch is irreparable and she wanted me to return the watch back and she agreed to give me a credit note. For the citizen watch she advised me to expose it to bright sunlight for the battery to charge.
Then I paid for the watch and the gitanjali jewelry along with my new purchases and she did pass on the credit for the irreparable TITAN watch. Mr. Arul your branch manager also thanked me for paying.
After this I started using my citizen watch, and then I found out that the watch is not working in the night (it works when there is direct sunlight). Every day I need to set the timings in the morning. Since I stay far away from your show room I decided to give this watch for a service to the authorized citizen service center which is near to my office.
I was shocked to understand from the service center that the watch is very old (as old as 3 years) and my warranty card is new so they refused to accept the watch for servicing and advised me to return it to the place where I bought from. I was looking like a cheat or a thief to them.
Confused on this I visited another authorized service center. They also advised me the same thing that I immediately return it to the place where I bought from. They also told me that the capacitor is damaged and the whole watch needs replacement. I still wonder how they know all these without even opening the watch probably the age of the watch.
Then I visited your show room to return the watch and they did not accept my experience with authorized service centers and they blamed the authorized service centre for not accepting it.
Then I pointed out the following which made me to suspect there is some thing wrong with your showroom
1. Why the watches are not given in the same box with the same MRP model no and mfg date? (To avoid the old stock materials being traced by the customers?) 2. A diff box with diff MRP and Diff Model no's given to all the three watches I bought (To avoid the customer to know the real price of the watch? Or (They are trying to do malpractice by selling a cheaper watch for a higher price and the higher valued one to their known people for a cheaper price?) 3. Why there is no MRP Stickers or manufacturing dates in the watches which are sold by you?
I understand that no one can even Transport/Stock/Sell any material with out a MRP sticker, which is mandatory. I don't know how it is possible at Lifestyle?
I wanted to go for legal action for the waste of time, money, energy and the mental agony I went thru by purchasing things from your show room.
Before going legal I thought that it is my duty to keep you informed of my bad experience.
Awaiting your reply ASAP
Warm regards
Kannan Nagarajan

sushi krishnamoorthi | | Kannan Nagarajan,
Thanks for the post. This is really education for us. If a small showroom does this, we take up seriously and see the way a prestigious shopping mall like Lifestyle had behaved. I suggest you take this up with consumer redressal forum.

Don't give up at halftime. Concentrate on winning the second half | | Sushi, you are right.. he should go to the consumer court.. but before that.
the below para from Kannan perplexes me..
"After 2 days I got a call from Ms. Madumathi from your Chennai show roomsaying they have not billed for one watch and requested me to come and paythe amount. Kanan, did you not know primafacie that they have missed to bill for one watch and for some jewellery???? Why would you accept something later if thats not right????
But anyways, my sincere advice to you ( if you need) is never buy watches/ goggles/ perfumes from outlets which sells multi products as they turn out to be in poor condition more often that. I have had similar experiences. Private Reply to Don't give up at halftime. Concentrate on winning the second half |
