How to assess if your Internet marketing is working | Views: 710 |
Nov 02, 2005 11:34 pm | | How to assess if your Internet marketing is working | # |
Garland Coulson | | I'm setting up a spreadsheet to help my clients track key components of their Internet marketing programs so they can see their progress at a glance. Eventually I will turn this into software.
I would appreciate any feedback on what things you would like to see included in a tracking system.
Here is some of what I have so far:
Unique Visitors Total Subscribers Leads Sales Incoming Links Ranking in Google Keyword 1 Keyword 2 Keyword 3 Keyword 4 Keyword 5 # of Pages Indexed Specific Campaign Results
What else should I add?
I'll make this spreadsheet available to members here at no charge.

Andrew Barnes | | For TrafficX users, how about impressions/unique impressions and clicks. A couple of Xchanges provide this info. I also monitor referring pages.

Kurt Schweitzer | | Garland,
You might want to include some Lifetime Value statistics, to emphasize the value of repeat business with existing customers. Refer to the article I wrote at http://kurtschweitzer.com/archives/2005/04/what_is_a_custo.html for more details and a Lifetime Value spreadsheet you can download.

Garland Coulson | | Hi Russ,
Good point. I have a tool to determine this in Google, so it was easy to track this, but perhaps I can find a tool that will do the same for Yahoo and MSN.

Garland Coulson | | Hi Andy,
I do have a section I am setting up for each campaign that would let them track the impressions, clickthroughs, and sales for each campaign, including traffic exchanges like the Free Traffic Bar and TrafficX.

Garland Coulson | | Good point, Kurt.
Most of my clients come back again and again for additional coaching, e-books and software. So if we just take into account the initial sale from an advertising campaign, we are missing the real long term value.
I will definitely add an estimated lifetime value to the system.
