This is local radio, originating in Glenwood Springs, CO, which includes a listening area of approximately 80,000 and includes Aspen. I would like to exchange ideas with you.
Are you or is your station a member of RAB?
They have some great ideas on their website if you are a member.
Find a creative/global type and ask them for ideas. You want some wild stuff and then go to your GM and say: "I got this idea I mentioned to our client. How can we make this happen?"-then watch the sparks fly!
December is national adoption month. Too late now, but a great opportunity to get someone from a local agency on the air for an interview about Foster Care-recruiting Faoster and Adoptive parents.
Sometimes you can get an advertiser to use some of their paid air time to advertise a non-profit group. The group gets air time. The advertiser gets a mention as the sponsor. And our GM will usually give us some extra air time to promote the event. When you have some odd avails-give them to the advertiser without telling them. When they see their statment they will see some "No-charge spots". Just tell them it was your way of thanking them for helping the "X" group or event. Not one of them has complained about getting extra air time - FREE.
Some businesses will do trade for mentions so you can get dinners, car washes, books, cds, movie tickets,etc in exchange for a mention as a sponsor. Use these to give to the "7th" caller, or the first donor to call in

Whatever happened to Realtors and Secretaries? A home buyer needs to be represented by their own agent for reasons that should be obvious. What would we do without secretaries?
On drug day be sure to tell the story of Sylvester Stewart a/k/a Sly of the Family Stone. This man once had a hot career playing a unique style of funk rock, until he got so addicted that he lost it all. This man should have had millions of dollars in the bank, but he has crashed and lives in poverty. Check it out on the internet.

I am responding to your request for guests/giveaways for your radio station. I am a psychotherapist, author and speaker on topics of personal and spiritual growth, parenting and wellness. I am certified in hypnosis and was previously in the medical profession (Respiratory Therapist).
