Hosting for Viral Flash AnimationViews: 886

Robert Schultz
Hello everyone:

Am in the final stages of prepping a viral flash animation I’m pretty excited about, but have some big questions about how to host it. (Much better at animation than calculating bandwidth requirements).

My current host (Bluehost) offers 10GB of storage and 250GB of bandwidth per month, so I'm not concerned about size.

What I am looking at closely is if there is high demand for this thing, will my host choke on multiple simultaneous demands, slowing downloads to a crawl (which kind of defeats the purpose).

What I'm looking for is:

1.
Recommendations on affordable hosting that can deliver the goods without gagging.

2.
Any resources (web links, blogs) that talk about what specific features to look for in a good host for media files (audio, flash, video).

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance!

Best,

Rob Schultz

Hi Robert,

I know a thing or two about this subject ;-)

The best in my experience has been www.1and1.com

We used to have the same exact issue of too many people at once, and now, no probs.

We have a hosting service that is intended for high-performance image hosting, which should be suitable for high-demand flash hosting. We have recently upgraded our server. Most important, we do not "oversell" bandwidth, which means that when you need it, it's always there.
