Google Local Search With MapsViews: 1057

Google has a new search that blends Google Maps with localized searches.

When you go to Google Local at http://local.google.com and type in a search term and place like "pizza nanaimo" Google brings up page with the search results on the left and a map on the left that shows the locations of the businesses that match your search with flags showing their locations.  As you point to each flag, the name of the company shows up and if you click on it a balloon shows up with the whole address and phone phone number along with a link you can click on for driving directions.

So the quest to find the best pizza in my new home of Nanaimo can continue...

That's old news, Garland! You can also incorporate a map into your own page! Here a page with a similar project with php and javascript source code.

I've got that on my cell phone! I love it. Living in Los Angeles it's a must have so you can find what you want wherever you are.
