Dec 20, 2005 12:05 am | | US Consumer Calling and FTC | # |
Ken Hilving | | The US has implemented a National Do Not Call registry, rules, and penalties in regard to telemarketing. An outbound VoIP call center sounds like a telemarketing outsource business.
This raises some business and technical issues that perhaps many here would be interested in.
As an Indian firm, how do you address compliance with your US clients in your contract? Who is responsible for subscription to the registry? Who is responsible if a violation occurs and a penalty assessed? Who responds to FTC notices? How do you validate compliance on a recurring basis with your client?
On a technical side, the NDNC registry precludes the old war dialer approach. What applications do you use to initiate calls? Are lists maintained manually or directly from registry downloads? If automatically, which formats do you use and why?
In addition to the US FTC regulations, a number of states have set up their own versions applicable to their residents. The same questions apply.
I see a number of solutions offered in the previous posts. Perhaps the posters could expand a bit for the education of all of us.
My sincere thanks.Private Reply to Ken Hilving |

Abhimaniyu chhikara | | Hi Nishant,
I understand that you are looking for VOIP solutions. I'am an I.T. Consultant, I provide telecom, security and operational consultancy to corporates worldwide such as GlobalVantage, Myron, Wellconnected etc.
For the issues that concern you I'am answering them in brief however if you need any details we can set up a meeting, which can be done by contacting me at my office between 2000 to 2300 or otherwise on my mobile. The contact details are given at the end.
1. What are the processes
a. Accessing the bandwidth requirement b. Taking quotations from bandwidth providers c. Installing the required hardware either on lease or on buy out d. Buying voice minutes from voice vendors (If the voip solution in question includes voice calls)
2. Is Voip legal in India for business or enterprize?
No, VOIP is not legal in India.
3. VOIP is cheap or any other solution is cheap for calls to USA landline?
VOIP is cheap but wireless is cheaper but wireless is known for drastic call quality and varied voice issues. Hence VOIP is the answer.
4. what r the equipments required for VOIP?
VOIP reqires a DSL modem, a router, voice codec, voice extension card, voice extension board.
5. From where to Buy those equipments? I mean USA or India?
India as they are cheaper and better after sales service.
6. If I am going for VOIP then what all equipments and what sort of Internet connectivity required?
It depends entirely upon the amount of seats that will be calling; if there is one then modem and a normal phone unit is the requirement; if it is a BPO then all the equipment stated above plus phones and computers; if it happens to be a KPO then the hardware and software requirements are much larger and varied.
7. If its VOIP then do I need to buy internet connectivity or the vendor would provide me the same?
You will have to subscribe separately to internet vendor and voice minutes vendor.

Ira Stoller | | Hi Ken,
Having just done some research on the predictive dialer market (we're trying to sell to that market, not buy from them) it shouldn't surprise anyone to learn that virtually every company who markets a dialer claims that they are fully compliant with all DNC laws and regulations.
However, I feel that marketing is at least as big a concern as is technology. You can have the best technology on the planet, but if you have no clients what good is it? How do you market to a population that is half way around the world? Are you going to go it alone or are you planning to team up with a US call center company? How about Europe and Asia? I know that a number of US based telecenters are offering offshore locations. They do this by establishing partnership agreements.
Just a suggestion.Private Reply to Ira Stoller |

Srikrishn Tripathi | | Hi Abhimanyu,
I couldn't help noticing point number 2 , you mentioned in your post which says that VOIP is not legal in India.Well, I belive, if you are talking about enterprise communication, VOIP is very much legal and promises to be the changing face of enterprise communication in India.
Infact, the market and the regulation seems to be preparing to go even furthur as department of telecom has allowed PC to landline calls. Its another thing that the offering hasn't come from the service providers yet.
As far as purchasing the equipment is concerned, I feel one should again look at the directive by the regulator that has been recently issued during the past week.
Thx and regards, krishn Private Reply to Srikrishn Tripathi |

moulay kaouthar | | hi,
You can set up CallShop by using Ecocarrier's managed service known as Q-CallShop.
You can use Ecocarrier's managed services for Q-CallShop to great advantage. You have access from anywhere on the Internet to view the operation of all the Q-CallShops you have and see which of the phone-booths are idle. All CDRs, Receipts and Costs are well documented and recorded. and is fully automated. Please go to the following URLs and read info: http://www.qcallshop.com/Brochure.aspx http://www.qcallshop.com/Documents/QCallShop.pps http://www.qcallshop.com/Documents/Application%20Notes%20for%20Q-CallShop.pdf http://www.qcallshop.com/FAQ.aspx Please read the attached files. Q-CallShop service is a managed service provided by Ecocarrier. It works within the Microsoft .NET framework. There is no software to run at the call shop itslef - all you need is Internet Explorer as a browser and some IP Phones or a small VoIP gateway connected with some single line analog telephones. Please read the attached application notes. The calls are carried by Ecocarrier for call termination to destination nos. Please refer to the wholesale per minute rates applicable to the traffic. You can set the Sell Rates yourself in a granular fashion for each Dialcode. We offer competitive rates and great value for a very reliable high-quality call termination servicewhich is essential for Call Shop operation (unlike a prepaid calling operation).
