Are you familiar with the concept of "online lenses?" If so, what do you think about the concept? I do not think the concept has been addressed in your newsletter. I would be interested to know if you are using this tool and recommend it. Obviously, you blog, have an online newsletter, Internet radio program, use a browser traffic bar and do web conferences as well as consulting over the phone. But, have you ever created online lenses?
Personally, I think online lenses are fascinating. To me, it is similar to blog or a website, but still different. It might be a good way to jumpstart a business in 2006. What are online lenses? They are topics for discussion that are like blogs, but incorporate a lot of special links and features. It actually is designed to draw traffic to you as an expert in a particular area rather than you having to go out and look for it. You might call it an "un-Marketing" approach to marketing. You can learn more about it by going to Squidoo. I think it is a pretty clever concept. What's more, it's absolutely free!
If you would like to see an example of an online lens, I invite you to take a look at mine at CDMM.

Garland Coulson | | Hello Lamar,
How do you see a "lens" as different from a blog?
The features I found at Squido don't seem any different from a blog.

Anita Cohen-Williams | | Actually, Squidoo seems to be more of a subject page than a blog. It is a very crowded site, and too template-driven for me. Private Reply to Anita Cohen-Williams |

I had recently set up a Blogspot and found that it is too difficult to navigate. I despised it. Along comes this discussion about Squidoo.
Finally, I got the time to go build it. Tell me what you think of it ~~ http://www.squidoo.com/wildfire/ ~~ the Wildfire page.
Also, Bahama Kin sent me this link ~~ http://www.nmallstars.com/hear-audio.asp ~~ to some very good musicianship. Take a listen and tell me what you think.

If you ask the folks at Squidoo to take a look at your lens and give you feedback on how to make your lens better, they will. How do I know? I asked for it and they gave it to me. My lens has improved its ranking tremendously since I took their advice.

CK Aspinwall | | Hi Lamar,
Where/how do you inquire of the Squidoo people?

At the hottom of your Squidoo screen is a link called "Get Feedback." Click it and leave a message asking what your lens needs to get a higher rating. I did and took the advice I received. Consequently, my lens rating really increased. It's amazing! The rating climbed from a horrible 5-figure rating to a low 3-figure rating in just days.
