Hey Barbara (and others!),

I've been thinking a lot lately about niches (so much so that I'm really tired of that word - terrible, I know!).

I've come up with a great tag line (I think) but I do need to niche more. So I don't know that this is exactly promoting my business as much as it is a plee for help :)

My tag line:
Streamlined Solutions To Rev Up Your Coaching Business

I do web design, web development and all the techie stuff that entails. I love helping people especially those that have a big vision for their business and those that help others. I love putting systems in place to help people better handle their online needs (like content management systems for people to easily post stuff without having to worry about HTML).

The list of things I can do seems to me to be a laundry list of overwhelming proportions. However, if I try to simplify it to just web design and development, there's such huge competition out there for that. How can I possibly stand out?

Ugh. Thanks for letting me join and rant :) Any help would greatly be appreciated!!

Lisa B.

Hi Celeste:

Would you consider offering a weekly "Nuggets" in addition to the daily version? I get so much email that daily would be overwhelm, but I'd love to see your nuggets.

Or how about posting some on your home page?

Cheers,
Barbara

PS: I mentioned your tag line to a couple of other women not on this network... and they really liked the blissful part!

Hello everyone - I revised my website and although I still have a few touches to make, it is up and running. It is www.coachingforthegoodlife.com. It feels good to have a nicer site than the one I had before! Best wishes to all of you. Sincerely, Debra

Lisa,

I have done web site design, and still do some, and every year the field gets more and more crowded.

Niching is the only solution; after all, you can't be all things to all people.

So, how can niche a bit within web design? It looks like you are picking coaches as your target market. This is a great first step. The next step is to really get into the market and really learn what coaches are looking for; what kind of web sites they need to run their business effectively; what makes these web sites really appealing to potential coaching clients.

When you know the industry inside out, you can offer very industry-specific benefits to the industry members, which makes you stand out among other web designers.

I'll add to Biana's post a potential niche for right now.

This whole podcasting thing is a mystery to a lot of us.

I can see you as "taking the mystery out of the next new thing for women on the 'Net."

Blogs, Squidoos, Podcasts, video and whatever comes after that. All those communication tools that help us get our info out there.

Even your Ryze page had some terms I never heard of: I might be scared of PHP if I knew what it was... LOL. And I'd love someone to tell me in 3 easy steps how to put my own blog's feed on my websites.

Can you identify which type of women business owners could make best use of your services?
