 Roberta's | | Hi Dawn,
I don't know the statistics but I do have a son who is ADHD/gifted. At one point the school made the suggestion about my daughter but she is not. My son is more quirky to me and then again I am more tolerant of him than most people are.

LaDonna Hankinson | | I don't know the statistics, but I know it is very common. I have 2 boys with ADHD and two who do not have it. There is a very clear difference between them. I actually became convinced I had ADD when I began to look into it for my son. The doctor told me that a lot of parents do the same thing.

Danielle Bailey | | When I was first told that my eldest son had ADD because.... (and they listed umpteen million signs) I shook my head and said - that's not ADD, I do all that myself. After about the millionth "but I do that too" his doctor sortof gave me a 'duh' moment and suggested I get tested. I am now going through all that. It's aggravating by the way.
Here is what I found to help you though - I'm sorry, I'll keep looking for harder statistics -
Inheritance of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Research shows that ADHD tends to run in families so there are likely to be genetic influences. Children who have ADHD usually have at least one close relative who also has ADHD. And at least one-third of all fathers who had ADHD in their youth have children with ADHD. Even more convincing of a possible genetic link is that when one twin of an identical twin pair has the disorder, the other is likely to have it too.

DR ~ | | I'm not sure about statistics, but I know firsthand that parents with ADD are more likely to have children with it as well. I have two*
