Kihim near Alibag can be a good getaway, there are launch (Catamaran) services from Gateway of India to Kihim, lots of good Hotels and also MTDC resort is good, the beach is good and it is convenient to go there by launch, it takes roughly 1 to 1 1/2 hours, it would be a good experience as it would also give a good boat ride.

Yes, It will be hot at this time....
but you can compensate by booking A/C rooms, I just suggested Kihim as the query was posted on Konkan tourism network...If you or your family are not comfortable in hot weather..then this is not the time to head for Konkan, thats for sure..but it will be still better than in May :)

Now would be a good time to go there. In fact anywhere in the Konkan region would be fantastic after the Monsoons!

Hey guys get ur facts right

the ferry service is from gareway of India to mandwa 50 min NOT TO Kihim you will then have to take the boat companies bus to Chondi about 20 m and then a rick about 3 km.

or else take the ferry from Bahu cha dhakka to revas this is cheaper.

You can go to bhandardara too...u can drive thru igatpuri and turn on chondi naka (different from the chondi to kihim). it is 185 kms from bombay...sd take abt 2&1/2the hrs to get there. place is best to visit during monsoon though with umbrella falls and randha falls. u can get a gr8 view of mt kalsubai here.

u can also go to nasik from there, trambekeshwar (if u r religious) and go hiking at hanuman tekdi (if u r adventurous).

If u r looking to head for konkan exploration in march..... n not used to the heat...i wud suggest u drop the idea. The best time to visit any part of konkan is after monsoon until mid feb. i can suggest many places for u, but it will depend largely on wat exactly u want to do...whether u wud like to lie down on beaches n be lazy or go trekking. if u want to try both in one go i wud suggest one early morning u head towards Bhimashankar; a wildlife sanctuary n hill station arnd a pilgrim centre - abt 230 km from Mumbai n a climb up of arnd 4000 ft. Camp overnight on top of the hill (its cold in the night). Dont miss the sunrise n d wildlife arnd. The next eve u cud head for a beach called "Umergaon" which is near the Maharashtra n Gujarat border (some travel required). u will find a good mixture of both the cultures out there. Also the fun part is that the beach is in Gujarat while at the time for drinks people walk into Maharashtra...the border being just across the rail line...to raise their spirits :). Long walks on the beach n hours of swimming on this relatively unexploited beach is the highlight.
