If you're looking for a good free service, try one of these:

Personally, I use the last two.
Hope that helps!

Richard Mathiason | | Srinivas, I hold online conferences everyday using my Vereconference Room. You can try it out for yourself by getting a free web conference room . There are too many advantages to list here. If you have an internet connection and headset/microphone-speakers combination you are good to go. People can also type text to everyone. Enjoy! As Andy stated, are you looking to conference with audio or video? If you are thinking about doing an audio conference and talk with five people or less, I highly recommend using Skype. This is a free service and works very well - especially if everyone has high-speed cable access. It is also a free service. However, everyone needs to download and install the Skype software - which is also free.
Now, for video conferencing, I recommend using Persony VShow Professional. While this software is not free, it is reasonably priced and truly extraordinary. Only one person needs to download it to his computer in order to conduct a conference with around 20 people. Everyone else simply goes to a website link to view the video conference. There is no need for anyone other than the presenter to download software. In addition, there is no fee required to conduct the conference. Once you own the software, that is all you are required to pay to do as many conferences as you like.
Persony VShow Professional is awesome software. I particularly like the fact you can share with your audience anything you can open up on your desktop. You can also easily record the conference for uploading to a website or online video registry like YouTube.com. You can check it out yourself for a free 30-day trial at Power Networking. By the way, this software works very nicely with Skype.
If you have any questions about my suggestions, feel free to send me a private email.

Andrew Barnes | | I have just signed up for - http://www.userplane.com . I am awaiting my activation link as I type this but based on their intro pages, it looks like an excellent service.
There is a basic, free option and then various paid account options allowing an increasingly wide range of services.
It is a web-based networking suite allowing text, audio and video conferencing. you connect to the service via your own web-site so participants have no need for any downloads and no call-charges. Why pay for tele-conferencing and require folk to increase their telephone bill when you can the three methods of communication for free, or a low monthly fee.

Skype just recently joined the teleconferencing world in a big way. You can easily take advantage of its growing audience by doing a Skypecast. However, I think you will need to download the beta version of its latest software upgrade. But, that is easy. Just go to Skype.

Maria Marsala | | I've used www.FreeAudioConferencing.com for a few years. Audio taping costs $10 per call. I don't audio tape often any longer so it comes in handy (vs. a monthly fee based audio program)

Velma Gallant | | I use http://freeconferencing.liveoffice.com, and it's worked well so far.
The conference call line is free. The recording is free. The downloading of the recordings is free. It comes with a web interface where you can see all the participants, and mute and unmute them individually or as a group.
There's a lot more too it than that, but that's a quick summary.
Warmly,
Velma

Dave Charbonneau | | We have tested a few. Skype is a bargain, however I can't always use my computer to make conference calls (anyone know if I have a choice of calling in a Skype conference call with a landline?).
We have to have very good recordings of our calls, we use them as backups and sometimes as the ONLY source for recorded talk show segments. If quality of recording is a concern, I'm very happy with www.accuconference.com. They are a fee-based service, and are very fair, easy to use, can build into an unlimited plan if you want, but can start on a minute by minute plan, includes a toll free call-in number.
I've got a referral code for 500 minutes Free (and yes, I get a dinner or something for the referral). Send a private message if you'd like the code/coupon.
Best to you.
Happily,

 Lamar Morgan 954-603-7901 | | Dave,
While I am a Skype user, I am also a Talkshoe.com talk show host. Talkshoe.com is a great service for free public and private conference calls. Talkshoe even has what it calls a "Talkshoe button." This button allows you to join a conversation without having to make a phone call. Pressing the button brings you into the conference room to talk. No phone charges.
Now, it is possible to get on Talkshoe using Skype. I happen to have a Skype-In phone number. Therefore, I can get on the call for free using Skype. Of course, I did pay a fee to get a Skype-In phone number - about $30 for an entire year of free unlimited calling to the US and Canada.
There are also Skype WiFi phones out there as well as free Skype software available for Windows Mobile cell phones. So, it is possible to make FREE mobile calls into Talkshoe without needing a computer. I encourage you to visit Skype and see what is currently available.
If the idea of putting mobile telecommunication to work for your business is appealing, I would also encourage you to take a look at Orb.com and Sling Media.

Dave Charbonneau | | Thanks, Lamar, for that insight.
Hey, another question you may know something about: social networking services. While my blog'azine supports the use of Ryze and other commercial services, I need some neutral ground for some private groups. I've looked at Ning and CollectiveX.
Any favs in that arena? (Lamar, or anyone).

Heidi Caswell | | You can have a private network on Ryze, one that is invisible to those not members, I prefer that to private yahoo groups.
Ryze groups have some of their best information buried in the archives. Wish there was a way to organize archives so it was readily available to all members.
I believe different groups fill different needs, what works best for one purpose, may not be the best for another. Either way it is the people and their participation that make or break a group.

 Lamar Morgan 954-603-7901 | | Dave,
I have never used a private social network, so I cannot speak to that effort. However, if you want to simply have a private teleconference with a group of people, I would once again recommend Talkshoe.com. It provides that service.
