I am quite sensitive to noise. If the voice, music or message are not appealing in the first 3 seconds, I click off the site.

What would be the purpose of putting something audio on your site?

Audio that is optional (click on a link "to hear an audio postcard...") is great. It gives the users a more personal connection to you and provides an additional opportunity for powerful marketing-- helping prospects to know, like, and trust you and your products/services.

Some people are naturally more verbally/auditorially inclined which means that they learn and remember best when material is presented verbally. Audio links are wonderful for this. And those who are better visually may choose not to click the audio links.

I'm working on integrating audio links throughout my sites now. I've been advising my clients to do so for a while and am ashamed that I haven't done so earlier!

Audio that just comes on without your choice is a turnoff. It can surprise and embarrass people (if they're surfing online at work) and often takes away from the core message of the site. It often makes people click off the site much more quickly than they would otherwise.

All the best-

Great point Audrey!
I have been thinking about adding a voice postcard link to my new website.

I thought it could assist helping prospective parents or caregivers of my clients to know us a bit better, while giving us a chance to tell them our mission without telling them, let them feel it though our vocal message. Maybe adding a video stream too. ( not sure what it will be yet... were taking suggestions if anyone has any!)

... Kids Culinary Adventures is an educational, kid friendly business. We are warm & fuzzy, a bit animated, unique in educational applications.

We really have quite a bit of fun... hence our internal staff mission statement:

"We love what we do, and we do what we love... life is too short... and the days are too long not to have fun at work!" Like most businesses, we believe that if were happy, that feeling carries over to the line employee.. directly connected to the client. Sort of the "Whistle while you work" deal.

Larina mentioned the audio learner. As culinary educators, we teach applications primarily as a tactile experience; but we make a huge point to touch all learning styles.

I would have never thought of incorporating that information into a marketing campaign!

I love it when I see things though another window!

Great information, thank you both!!

GG-

Yes, mode of learning is very important because marketing seeks to accomplish AIDA: get Attention, capture Interest, ignitive Desire, and call to Action

For many people, attention is best caught through voice. Interest is then created because the voice sounds warm and engaging and the words are informative and compelling.

With your business, cooking is probably taught verbally more so than in writing so the verbal introduction can give a feel for what it would be like in that class. It is like giving a free sample of the class and a great way to show the benefits and create Desire. In some future time there will probably be the technology for the other senses, but for now we have those to work with.

Send us a link with your audio postcard if you do one :)
Good luck-

GG --

Hop on over to http://www.whatspossible.com and listen to the audio I have on my website. The buttons are located under my picture. Something like that could work for you.

Best regards,

I like it! ... I like the idea of a "still photo" . I think that will be easier than video stream, and more cost effective.

Thank you!

Wonderful information... thank you.. marketing is such a science... with that being said....

I know this could be a personal preference question. But... maybe there is some marketing science to it.

Q:)Would one be more incline to trust,or be drawn to a audio/video stream with a sample of a few class, or ... still photos of classes and an audio link? Or maybe they would have the same impact?

Challenge: I do teach several age groups and would want buyers to have a chance to see all. I would hate to have three different video streams... from Early Learners
( preschoolers) to high school level. They all have different applications and methodologies.

Until I can send a nice scent of a warm homemade pie through... I will need to stick to this.

Thanks again for all your comments. If I can be of assistance to anyone with culinary love or traumas let me know. I don't have all the answers, but I might be able to find someone who does.

Audio and Video can be highly effective on websites and or blogs. Check out http://60secondideas.com to see how we are using audio combined with simple video to capture attention.

Services such as audio acrobat are excellent and inexpensive to add audio or video to websites and/or blogs.

Almost. Now you need to turn it into a straight text link.

I like the idea of having a video available as discussed in the previous posts.
I do not want to have it run when the page is opened.
I use a video for one of my client's products that shows a 5 ton truck loaded to 15,000 pounds trying to break through his 40 foot wide security barrier. It is also up on youtube.com and has been watched 1456 times.

Denise's audio file loads a lot faster than T.M.'s but both are available almost immediately.

Do you have any metrics on their success? Do you see an increase in conversions, and if so, how much?

Reg,

How do you turn it into a text link (I missed your post)? That is a great tip!

Denise,

I signed up for the audio product you recommnended but got lost in the instructions (hook up mic to CD minidisc...) I know that other services (Audio Acrobat, etc) allow you and customers for endorsments to call in, which seems much easier to me at around $19 a month. What do you or others suggest?

Thanks much,
Larina

Larina,
To get your link as anchor text use:
[a href="http://www.yoursite.com">Replace this with your text[/a>
The first brackets have been changed from < to [ so you may see the code.
Change them back to use the code.

I took a look at your sites Larina.
Look for a PM from me shortly.

Hi GG
You suggested using Audio, and briefly touched on using video.

Have you thought about using a very user friendly Video Streaming that costs very little per month $6.95 a month to be precise

I got involved in Video because my son had difficulties with the written word, but show him a video and he can remember everything. It is the sound and pictures together that reinforce everything for him.

He is now seriously thinking of doing a degree, this is how much it helped.
