Lesson 3 - Network With Me Feature
Thanks to Patricia for asking this question, although I would normally have left it till later to address.

As a Platinum member, it is difficult for me to remember what Regular and Gold members have in the way of features, without consulting the Ryze FAQ's, however, that is unimportant.

What is important is: What IS the Network With Me function, and how do we use it?

I DON'T!

Of all the features that Ryze offers, this is the one that comes under the most attack, from what I can see. You will even see Profile Pages (Guest Book pages) where members have actually stated "I don't use the NWM feature, so please sign my GB if you'd like to hear from me!"

I do not use the NWM feature because it leads to nothing (although having said that, it IS a great idea - just hasn't been developed to where it would be of any use".

Basically, the NWM feature is a way for members to reach out to other members in order to build a relationship, but it isn't working the way that is was designed to work and here's why:

You are an existing member.... you receive a NWM request from Joe Blow. You go to their page and find that they have absolutely nothing in common with you - you're a hairstylist and they are in rocket science! What do you do? Naturally, you will ignore that request. And that's where it ends!

I am of the belief that this feature was designed to cut down on the number of PM's (Spam) to existing members by new members but there is an far easier way!

JOIN THE NETWORKS AND START READING AND POSTING!

Where with NWM, you had nothing in common with the rocket scientist, you might find yourself reading a network post that suggests that they run for charity, for the same charity that you do! Bingo - that's your point of connection. NOW, you have the right to PM that member and talk about running for charity!

Networking on Ryze is no different to networking at a luncheon. You still have to build the relationship before you can get close to the prospect. If you are in doubt, relate the Ryze feature to something in the 'real networking world' (the PM approach would be considered 'junk mail'.... the NWM feature would be like collecting a ton of biz cards and sending introductory letters to them, without having first met them) and ask yourself, "What would I do if this wasn't online?" (ie. if it were a face-to-face connection).

I will be dealing with networks next week, and how to respond, so stay tuned!

I hope that this has helped.
