George Castro | | Hello All,
I need to get the word out there for a parenting program that my company is offering. The program is for parents who are separated or going through a divorce. We will launch it in September and want to spread the word. Does anybody have any new or creative ways that might work for a small company to get the word out to a community? All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Have you thought about writing an article on the subject and then submitting it to your local media? You could also create an event around your opening and write a media release sending to all your local media. If you could find a local "celebrity" to endorse your new program, that would be newsworthy. Or a parent with whom you have worked and helped.
Maybe a local business person who is well-known and respected in the community. Having testimonials of people you have already helped goes a long way with the media, especially when the media recognizes their names.

Have you considered talking with some "key power partners" about marketing for you? For example, Family Law Attorneys often recommend their clients to counselors, programs, etc. Marketing to them, and getting them to recommend you makes them your sales force. Other power partners might be support groups, domestic abuse groups, CPAs (they often know when a family is breaking up before an attorney does), estate planning attorneys, etc. Maybe even more liberal churches might be open to this topic...depending on their views on divorces.
Perhaps even talking to your local YMCA or Community Center about providing information on the topic at a seminar or something...or at least asking them to allow a flyer to be posted might be worth while. A Family Magazine in your area might be a good place to submit press releases and/or advertising if it's appropriate.
These are a few ideas. I hope this is of help, and good luck with your program launch!

Jill | | Develop relationships with family lawyers. Check if the bar association in your state (not sure if I'm using the right terms as I'm Canadian) but here for example the family law lawyers have regular meetings. Your area probably has something similar. Maybe you could speak at one of their meetings? Also speak to school counselors & churches.

I have a client that offers a program for children and he handed out flyers and business cards in the schools. Not sure how it works in your area, but in our location he had to have permission from the principal of the schools. These flyers were then distributed with the child in the weekly information packet that goes home. Good luck. Sounds like what you are doing is much needed.

Yes, this is right where I'm at right now. We are targeting local courts, attorneys, family mediators, but I had not thought about CPA's. We are also talking with both a Catholic and Cristian church and both are receptive to the program.
I like the idea of going to the YMCA as well.

this can be a handout until you develop a contacts list--then a regular mailing. consistency and repetition will help you and the company be seen as Experts.
format could be a simple 8-1/2x11 flyer, a bi-fold or tri-fold brochure, or an email newsletter (your graphic design can be prepared for print&online if the templates are set up correctly). best of luck with your new venture!

Simon Cherkasski | | Brochure are expensive, use 4x6 postcards (my advise to all my customers). The design should be heart touching and non aggressive. Good price for 2000 cards, both sides color printd should not be more that $300/350
And don't try to save money on the design, it's what make the difference.
