Web Page Question, Could Use Some Input...Views: 891

Cathie Garnier
I am trying to sharpen my online marketing and computer skills at the moment. Not very computer savvy but working diligently to change that. Am thinking of taking on creating a capture page - a huge endeavor for someone of my limited knowledge. Can anyone offer any advice on getting started with creating a capture page? For example, where do I get templates? How difficult a task is it really? What can I expect to pay? What about hosting services?

Thanks in advance!!

hi cathy,

tried to go to your website but found that you do not host it at present.

as far as your website goes you need to have a neat and clean website which will give your business an image of a million dollar enterprise even if you are just starting out.

the interface should be clean and neat and the site should load quickly.

one of the options available today is to install a content management system instead of a template based website.

this has a few advantages.

1. easily add modify and delete data from your website.
2. nice shopping cart to sell your products online.
3. integration with your paypal account to receive payments.
4. changing the look and feel of your site with just a few clicks.
5. no nowledge of web design or web programming required.
6. professinal looking website.

if you need assistance for the above you are free to contact me.

the cost if you take the hosting from us is USD 249.00 per annum. ( this is a WAH special package)
this gives you all the above along with 500 Mb space.

normally just hosting costs 249 but for Ryze Wah's we have a special offer of 2 templates preinstalled.

this comes with free online training and hand holding for 15 days to help you upload your content and publish your website.

ofcourse 24x7 support for webhosting is provided for a year.

Well, I'm not going to hype my services here. Just give you some answers. First, you can get templates in a number of places. www.templatecentral.com comes to mind. You may want to have someone set it up initially and then you can edit in Contribute. This is a terrific product that is sold by Adobe - think of it as Word for the web. It is a visual editor that allows you to edit your pages at your leisure, add images and text, even new pages. I have lots of clients using it. I think a Content Management System is overkill for you - it's more than you really need. As for hosting, you can get great packages for very little money. www.1and1.com has a hosting service for $9.99 a month and it includes a web-based Web Builder that will help you build a site with up to 18 pages. I hear they are great. Thankfully, the new tools out there are great - you don't even need to know how to work with the code like you used to in the old days (yes, I've been at it that long :). Let me know if you have any other questions and I hope this helps.

Hi Cathie...

if by a "capture page" you mean a webpage with a
form for visitors to enter their name, email addr,
etc...

Its very easy to create these type of forms either
with something like Web Form Designer if you want
a reliable free version...
http://www.webformdesigner.com

Or you can get a form designer tool with webpage
design programs like Site Spinner for about $49 US
http://www.virtualmechanics.com

I've used both of these products on the main page
of my website for contact info http://www.garaughty.com
and...

For visitors to subscribe to our newsletter...

I hope this helps, let me know if you need more
specific info.

Would creating a Web page using a blog template work for you?

Web hosts that include blogs as part of the package provide templates that are ready for populating with the information you want to add.

There's a learning curve, as with everything, but there's no need to learn about Web site creation. The template's already there, and you have plenty of templates to choose from.

As an example, this month I created a Web site/blog called http://www.LaughingChow.com/. It took me about two days to get it up and running. For me, it works to reach my audience and keep them returning by adding updates a minimum of twice weekly.

Blogs are also said to be indexed faster within search engines, which is another benefit.

This is just another option to get you up and running on the Web with a site that matches your need to get online.

Best of luck,
Shirley
