| The Public Speaking - The Essential Skill Network is not currently active and cannot accept new posts | nice to be among you | Views: 2027 | Oct 04, 2006 1:07 pm | | nice to be among you | # | BGS | | I am a businessman based in the beautiful city of Bangalore(South India).I have always had this fascination for public speakers, and i would stand in awe seeing some people(more so politicians)keeping the crowds enthralled,by the power of body language, diction and word power.I very recently joined the Toast masters club(indiranagar,Bangalore). My knees went jelly, and at the end, though perspiring,i was congratulated for a wonderful speech. And believe me,when i gave my second speech(prepared)though the nervousness was still there,i was aghast at my own performance, was applauded for my voice, choice of quotes and an OK english. My gratitude to Toast masters.I am thrilled to be amongs't you all. regards. That's how everything usually goes, the initial getting up in front is the most nerve-wracking but after that you seem to be confident. Yet again, nice job on doing so well and getting commended for it.

G. I too joined toastmastes - about six years ago. My skills as a comunicator have been expanding. I am now a member of three clubs. Two of them are advanced clubs for members who have already completed the basic manual. I have also served as a mentor to a newly chartered club and I am starting a youth leadership program with a local high school. There are many opportunities to learn, practice and give back thru Toastmasters.

I was just wondering.. every time i take stage for the firt few minutes.. my voice is shaky.. legs become weak..and i am usually incoherent in the first minute..i this a common experience..or just that i need to learn.also there is a notion that public speaking is a art and it comes naturally for many.. an inborn talent.. just like someof the other artforms..
cheers manirangan Private Reply to Manirangan seetharam | |
