I would like to know about copyrights. Does anyone have a website I can go to??? I have ideas for t-shirts, I design clothing, I want to write a book, some day I will have original music material. Do these items follow under one copyright?? or are there different types of copyrights??

Copyright laws vary from country to country, so you need to find info that pertains to your country specifically. For US copyright law, the FindLaw site has pretty much everything - don't have the URL, but a quick Google will turn it up.

www.copyright.gov was suggested to me by a top intellectual property attorney.

Like Lynne said, copyright.gov is a good site...also uspto.gov is another good site. My recommendation before you do anything though is to consult a good copyright attorney...in the long run, you'll spend less money and you'll probably retain more copyrights then going it alone. Many folks waste thousands of dollars and lots of time doing it by themselves. Good luck!

Why not be sure that you are getting good legal advice? We have attorneys who have experience in EVERY area of law including "Intellectual Property".

I recommended an attorney from San Francisco to Pre-Paid Legal and he is one of the top attorneys in this area for that area of law.

I'm sure we have one in your area also--Make sure you get the right answers and the right protection for your efforts.

Check your local phone book for Lawyer Referal or at a law office. Try a few then ask what a charge is. I know I paid $10 for 1/2 consoltation Some may give you up to and hour free. Choose wisely.

From which part of the Country you belong to.

If you belong to the United States then you are requested to visit the website of United States Patent & Trade Marks Office www.uspto.gov.

This is a exhaustive site in which you can find answers to all your queries or else you should visit a lawyer practicing in the field of Intellectual Property Rights.

If you have any other queries pertaining to Copyrights and Trade Marks in India please feel free to call upon me.

www.uspto.gov is the perfect website for anyone who is interested in either a trademark or patent.

However, copyrights come under the Library of Congress and not the Patent and Trademark Office. I just checked www.uspto.gov and, while there in some info about copyrights on that site, it does link back to the Library of Congress' copyright website www.copyright.gov.
