Lavin Ailani | | Hey people!
Seems like HT Virgin is about to start! Check out this promo that they have come out with for 'Fever 104' FM! Seems like exciting times ahead for Radio listeners :)

Pralay Bakshi | | They are already on air in Delhi (with a very mixed response, from what I hear). Their Mumbai launch is imminent, and will be followed by the bangalore launch towards the end of the year. Kolkata will launch by March/April.
They plan to have minimal talk (in fact the RJs in Delhi apparently talk once in 3 songs and just announce the station name and song name). The mix is supposed to be 80% hindi and 20% english.
Mumbai will be a difficult market to crack... Private Reply to Pralay Bakshi |

Fakhruddin Ahmed | | In Delhi they are getting better, they adjusted their quality of on air sound, its much more balanced and song selection mainly western is getting more contemporary as per Indian taste and memory retention. But they still talk less..except for the weather they hardly come on air. However since the time they adjusted their on air sound FM Rainbow India's on air sound has taken a sharp drop, today they were hardly heard all day, they are right next to Fever.Private Reply to Fakhruddin Ahmed |

Fakhruddin Ahmed | | Cant Believe how Fever is being positioned as Adult Contemporary Music Station when their RJs dont speak at all...since when we started having Adult Music in India? HT Media appears to be utterly confused!!! Private Reply to Fakhruddin Ahmed |

Manish Menghani | | i personally feel that its the presenter that makes or breakes a show/station. although we agree that music is the most integral part of the station, you are somewhat expected to get it right whatsoever. if you look at the most successful stations, they have most popularly been known because of the breakfast show jocks. its the equity that the morning show builds that carries off to the rest of the station.
Having said all that, in a nutshell, loyalty is not built by someone coming in and doing a quick 20 secong link that speaks about the next song, but build conversation and/or relate with the co-host/listener.Private Reply to Manish Menghani |

Pralay Bakshi | | It's early days, and while a lot of people get excited initially by the almost non-stop music (as Win 94.6 showed in 2002), jocks do come on and do their bit. I agree with Manish about the breakfast jock setting the tone for the station - a good breakfast presenter, along with a good drive time host can be a winning proposition; though in Mumbai the afternoon and late evening slots are important too.
BTW, who's the breakfast jock on Fever in mumbai?Private Reply to Pralay Bakshi |

Pralay Bakshi | | No story as such :P
I had heard that they had got a team in place but were desperately looking around for a breakfast jock. The HT Mumbai team seems to be all ex-Radio City staff - Gaurav Sharma was PD, Utkarsh was Producer, Prachi was co-jock on breakfast, and I'm sure there are others. Ditto for Adlabs (which is where you work?). Lot of ex-Rdio City guys.Private Reply to Pralay Bakshi |
