Starting with a "blank sheet of paper". These will be used to frame a future article for....
http://Broadband-Nation.blogspot.com
Please scan these articles 1st to get a flavor for where my previous focus has been. A more narrow focus than what I'd like this next article to be.

http://ezinearticles.com/?ISDN-vs-ADSL...Which-Is-Better-For-Video-Conferencing?&id=176602
Then comment on the items below as they pertain to the above requested insights.....
- system layout
- necessary equipment (include source/make/vendor/function etc.)
- design parameters (scale, performance, capability, limitations)
- estimated costs
- bandwidth requirements
- anything else to consider from a technical standpoint (not facility)
I'd like 2 "examples". One for a small to medium size business....and one for a corporate network.
Thanks!

1. The set up:
a. Where are the people sitting- In a conf room or the equipment is meant for desktop vc.
b. How many people
c. The design of the VC room(The equipment depends on that)
This would give you a starting point for your equipment. Each of these is important to consider for a good VC session.
2. The number of concurrent sessions.Ie the number of locations connected simultaneously on the network. This is needed to determine the bandwidth at the central location as well as the equipment again.Basically, this determines the cost.
3. Is the VC session going to be one-on-one or a multicast.
4. Main vendors are Polycom, Tandberg. You could get good desktop VC capability by using Cisco also.
5. The costs would depend on the : a. Equipment b. nETWORK c. Bandwidth
6. For a good quality VC session, you need 384 or 512Kbps bandwidth. The manufacturers say 768, but then thats ideal.
7. You would also need good quality displays/TVs.
Give me more of the details asked above and I could give you a close enough design/cost with equipment options.
Or alternately, tell me the infrastructure of hte organisation like locations, number of people at each loc you need for VC and the need to go for VC: Weekly training, CEO's address to the team, customer call etc, and the budget.

However, I'm not looking for a design for a specific company. I'm looking for information (similar to what you outlined but with more detail)....to write an article which will guide businesses through the steps to design a VC system for themselves.
