Business Development - Two fold Question | Views: 1081 |

Jan Verhoeff | | I've developed a new product line - in the desktop publishing field and I'm interested in selling it along with my services. I'm looking for some serious suggestions for selling the product. It's a simple enough product - stationery/cards/letterhead - and I'd like to sell both the design (disc/email) or the product, printed and delivered.
But I'm unsure how to add it to my current line of services.
Suggestions?

Jan Verhoeff | | The product can be purchased by paypal.
It can be loaded onto a CD and sent out - or printed and sent out as a printed card/stationery - or it can be emailed out as a program they can put on their computer and upgrade or change as they choose.
Thanks,
Jan

Michelle Schoen | | The first thing I'd want to do is creating some type of marketing brochure showing the features and functions of the software. Then I'd probably send out a press release so the world will know that it exists. In that press release, you can also offer your services for people who don't want to mess with another piece of software.
Just my 2 cents! Michelle Schoen http://www.thepermanentrecord.net Private Reply to Michelle Schoen |

Reg Charie | | Jan, Since your product can be loaded on CD this means, stocking, printing the CD label and cover/insert and shipping.
CafePress offeres this service in a print on demand with a base price of around $8. You add your profit to the base price to set the selling price. CafePress service incudes a nicely packaged and printed CD which looks very professional.
I would also look for on demand printers that offer affiliate programs. This would give your purchasers a link to good deal on printing and you make on each sale.
You can also offer the CD as a download if your hosting service gives you enough space/bandwidth

Kurt Schweitzer | | Answer the question "How does this product benefit me?"
You need to have concrete answers to that question for each of your target markets.
Next, answer the question "Who is my competition, and how is my product better than theirs?"
You need to be able to overcome the objections prospects will raise, especially when they start trying to figure out why they should buy from you rather than someone else.
Since you already have a line of products (services) that you're selling to current customers, it should be simple to replace some of your services with this product, resulting in a cost savings for you and (hopefully) added benefits for your customer. Just make sure you can explain to him or her why this substitution is the right thing to do.

Jan Verhoeff | | Those are all awesome ideas!! Thank you for your help.
I'll be implimenting those between now and the new year, and putting the items into CD format for sale.
They are copyrighted, and will be patented (just one) before they go on the open market.
Thanks for that suggestion.
