New Here!! Will my business grow on the internet??Views: 2299

Kelly Watson
Hi,
I am somewhat new to my business and marketing. My business is using services/products myself and getting paid to use them. I also get paid a % on my teams services as well, and for anyone joining my team.
What I am looking for is business partners to do the same thing. Use some of the services we market for and build the business a few years and collect residual income.
Do you think this can be done on the internet as well as showing the business to people I know and come in contact with??
Am I wasting my time?
Any help or advice is appreciated.

Kelly

Kelly,

What you're talking about is commonly known as either Direct Marketing or Multi-Level Marketing.

To answer your question, no.

1) All your competition (both inside and outside your company) is on the Web.

2) To sell on the Web you need to have very good copywriting skills. Your words have to persuade all by themselves, without you there to help.

3) If (or when) you develop really persuasive copy on your website, your competition will quickly steal it and use it on their sites. It becomes a copywriting arms race.

4) For the Multi-Level part of MLM to work you need to include strong sales training support. This is very difficult to do effectively over the Web.

I really think you'll be better off focusing on a person-to-person approach. Maybe after you've grown your business to the point where your team can support you without your direct input, then you can try going to the next level on the Web. But hone your selling and team building skills first.

Kurt-

I agree with your observations. There are many people out there that have tried to make their business work simply over the internet. They felt they would set up business and watch the money roll in. The truth is, all business is about personal relationships. If you can't create them, your business goes no where. There is a roll for the internet...there are certain parts of business that the internet and technology can do more effectively. HOWEVER, these tasks often come after the relationship is established. People need to get to know you if they are going to trust you.

My 2 cents on the subject,
Chris

All of the above is good information.

I would like to add that if you are going to use the internet, then you better learn the ins and outs of presenting yourself online.

Presenting yourself online means getting found by people searching for what you offer, then convincing them that you and your products are worth a look.

If you look at the source code for your website you will see it makes refrence to "framesets" and then has several hundred lines that read""

The ONLY way people are going to find this site is if you tell them.
The search engines will never find it.

You need to think about having your own domain and server as well as designing a site to build credibility and start getting listed in the search engines.

If you want to chat about your options I have enabled my instant messenger info for you on my Ryze home page.
I am usually online from 9 am pacific until about midnight.

Hi Kelly,
Great information/observations and comments above.

If I may - my 2-cents - as 2006 starts fading and 2007 is ready to burst-forth over the horizon. Get Ready: It's going to be a Rocket-ship Ride!

MLM is a relationship business - It is people-to-people. It is or can be very fulfilling in all aspects of life. It builds you, if you work at it. Like anything else - work first, get paid later. But not like traditional work, you can reach a day when the business yields rewards when you aren't there. Passive income! Just be very sure of the integrity of the corporation, the leadership. You'll do well - long term.

Internet business - well that's very different...yet is founded on similar principles: integrity, honesty. Problem can arise as someone above mentioned - how does your I.B. stand out among the +100 million websites out there.

Actually you can succeed at both...and quite a number are.

The I.B. depends on you providing information that will draw interested people to you. You become an expert in your field. (Hint: pick a subject you know and love...or at least have a passion for and are ready to research.)

You seem to have the MLM side covered....but don't quit. Keep doing that - especially if you like the products! You can build that business accidentally. (EG: Someone asks you to get them one of your proprietary products....Ooops: you suddenly have a new Client.....New Client prefers paying Wholesale, not Retail. Oooops: you suddenly have a new business associate you may never have known before, but suddenly you care very much for them and their success. It's called 'changing the World, one person at a time. That can be its biggest reward. Never worry about the money - it follows anyway...if you don't quit.

To succeed at an I.B., however, requires some specific knowledge: like - how. More to the point - how can I make my site more visible than 90% out there?
Well - there is a way.

I have put together, for you, a number of YouTube (Yes - that YouTube) testimonials that will give you an amazing look at what others are doing. Click on the link below and Enjoy!

Keep us in the Loop. Let us know how you are progressing.

Remember: whatever you choose: Never ever Quit!

Keep Smiling!

Hi Kelly,

Kelly it does help your business if you market both online and offline.

Kelly by joining many networking communities you can make friends with people with similar interests and find new methods to promote both yourself and your products and service.

I am in many good communities and am never short of people who are interested in what I am doing.

It's also a great help if you can write about things that interest you. I am in many writing communities and this also helps me get free advertising and sales.

Hi Kelly,

You can develop many things online, but you need to pick a niche area of your business and then develop around that niche.

For instance, with MLM you wouldn't market the online MLM opportunity up front, you might pick one or two interesting products that your company works with and then develop a site around that.

I've seen websites that only sell Tea Tree Oil products and making thousands a month, but if they sold Tea Tree, Cars, Holidays and other non-related items to their niche then it wouldn't work and would in fact take away from the power of the site.

As for getting the skills you require, there are ways to find them on the likes of Elance.com and Guru.com, you will need to spend some time in these free job posting sites and you'll be amazed at what you can come up with.

Just keep in mind for your site to work well, you need to focus on one tightly targeted niche and then create your Most Wanted Response (MWR) and go from there, too many cooks spoil the broth so to speak :-)

Good luck with it and keep us posted.
