I would love some suggestions as my site seems to be at a stand still . People tend to buy that type of item more around holidays, and after Christmas you can expect a yearly slack.
BUT... Valentine's Day and Easter both present opportunities for you. Then Mother's Day, of course.
I don't know precisely how to survive the slack time with your type of business, I just know that with previous lines that I have sold, there were slack times where I would use the time to improve the site, prep marketing materials for later, make call-backs, catch up on stuff I never seemed to have the time to do, put more passive income generation into place, etc.
You can run some specials now, but they may or may not be effective, at least until income tax returns come in. :)

This is a terrific time of year to lay the foundation for growth in your business. As a matter of interest, it would be quite helpful to be able to elevate your site out of the Mob of 56 Million sites out there, so it will be visible and attract traffic that is pre-sold to whom you can market. :o) Sound good?
Have a look at: http://drive-traffic-to-your-site.first411.com
You may find some great help there.
Let me know how you find it.
Keep Smiling!
Fred

If you don't currently have a mailing list (online and offline) that you market to, it's high time you did. That would be a great opportunity to make a follow on sale and help your customers become more loyal to your business.
Also, there is no reason why you should have a major lull at any time of the year if you have a marketing plan. Do you? The best place for you to start would be with the Chases Calendar of Events -- pick it up at your library or online at http://www.chases.com There are tons of holidays you could be promoting your products for. And you can even add one of your own.
So get started now. A mailing list to make one time customers repeat customers and a marketing plan that takes advantage of every possible holiday of the year.
Best regards,

If you can find out how to reach these folks en masse, your downtime sales could be as brisk as your holiday sales. :-) Private Reply to Soni Pitts | Feb 07, 2007 1:54 am | | re: re: re: Marketing and advertising ???? | # | soybean boys | | you may expand your sale products.recent year, sporting is very hot over the world. You can add some sports products,I think there are so mand funs over diffrent sports item. How do you go about finding customers for your hand-painted woodcrafts? Do you do a lot of direct-mail advertising? What do you do to attract and expand your audience?
Small businesses that are just getting started often work with the local Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber comes over to the business with its large scissors and pre-cut ribbon and does a grand opening ceremony. Hopefully, the business is off and running - thanks in part to the Chamber's promotional efforts. But, then what? Many companies are simply on their own...and without a plan or strategy for success in the marketplace. Some folks seem to have a "Field of Dreams" mentality when it comes to marketing. That is to say, "if you build it they will come." But, all too often that is not the case. All too often, people are too busy to care what you have to offer - despite the amount of advertising you do. The trick is getting people to CARE. If people CARE, not only will they buy what you are selling, they will spread your business message to others so they too will buy what you are selling. Does the idea sound familiar? It is called business networking. Business networking works...especially when you go about it in a clever way. And yes, it can spill over into the advertising process.
For example, you can use a service like Send Out Cards to impress your target market. But, that is usually reaching out to just one person one time. The Direct Marketing Association says a person needs to see your message SIX times before you can expect a response from him. Do you really want to send out SIX Send Out Cards to the same person just to get one response? It's not just the money in sending out the cards, it is the time you use up just to go through the process. Time is actually more valuable than money. Why? Because time is a non-renewable resource. Money you lose you can make back. The time you lose is gone forever.
What you may find very beneficial for your business is to learn some power networking principles and incorporate them into a marketing plan. In fact, do a little research online. Google power networking. You may find it more prudent to outsource your marketing needs than to do it yourself. After all, what would you prefer to do - spend your time searching for customers or servicing them?
If you would like more information about outsourcing options, please do not hesitate to send me a private email.
