X and Y component of SalaryViews: 859

Hi,

I have a question regarding the X and Y component in a salary. Lets say if we recruit someone at a sr management or middle managment level and do not want to give the entire chunk of money in hand .Could we spread it over a period of time . My main issues are retention of these sr profiles. My take on this --

We could give a sign on bonus to the employee spread over a period of time

Eg : If ABC's CTC is Rs.20 lacs P.a

We give a salary break up where out of 20 lacs..we distribut the Rs.5lacs over a period of 6 months or we pay that 5 lacs over a period once the employee finishes 6 months in the company.

I want to ensure the employee sticks to the company.Even if its for the money.

Also, another question that I have is what happens after completion of the above 6 months to 1 year. What else can be given as a part of CTC to ensure retention ?

Normally, the salary retention becomes a costly affair. Retention of a talented employee by competeing in the market by using the money as retention may help the company in retain the employee only for shorter period of time..

so just get down to other ways of doing retention..

after one year of service by the sr. managers,ESOPS can be a good retention factor..

since there are less idea about ur company profile it becomes difficult to go on

Pallavi,

Yes, you could spread the some amount over a period of time linked to some goals. That is a accepted norm at senior levels.

thanks,
Divaker
