Robert Harrington | | I had no idea that MySpace, MyFace etc could be used for commercial applications.
So I will echo your question.
Any Myspace, Myface gurus out there?
Please educate us.

Sheryl Thompson | | Follow Carrie's advice; connect with people you like. Join a group or two.
Share news about special promotions, awards, and any other news you'd like to share, but do not cross the line into spamming.
I created a Myspace for personal reasons, but make no secret of my professional life. I have personal friends on my friends' list as well as characters from television and movies, musicians, and various interesting online contacts.
Hope this helps, SPrivate Reply to Sheryl Thompson |

maggie makris | | I must agree My space is great place to connect with people you like. At my space you can meet different people from different fields. Now concerning spamming I saw some of it. But there are people who are willing to help. I made a friend or two over at my space. I wish I had more time so I could use it wisely on my space.
Another great business network is Bizpreneur Take a quick look:

Mystery Maiden | | Heya! I do a lot of marketing on myspace. Each of my games has its own myspace profile and friend base. Earlier this week I discovered Friendblaster and am in the middle of my free trial. This little gem has saved me so much time with my marketing that I've actually had time to watch a little tv. Just google Friendblaster and you can check it out.

Mikey Mc | | One of my business ventures is based around my MySpace blog, selling merchandise of the different themes and characters on the blog, and I have a positive cash flow going with it for 2007...
If you have a blog on MySpace, you can find your target customers in "Search" and "Browse" and then invite them to your blog, to do that you go to their blog (if they haven't posted one, click the "view all blog entries" link on their profile) and then click the link under their photo that says "invite to my blog."
Everyone here are welcome to add me as a friend on MySpace, of course, and I encourage all to subscribe to my blog...

Joseph L. Rosenberg | | There are plenty of business groups at myspace. You can join one and participate like you do here. Eventually loads of business people ask to be your friend. You can then contact them to see of their interest in your product or service. If you are at myspace, take a look at the groups I've joined, Joe Rosenberg CPAPrivate Reply to Joseph L. Rosenberg |

Robin Wms | | I have a few profiles on myspace and they work really well. I think some guys on there are interested in other ways than business but I keep the conversations limited to my business until it scares them off... lol Anyway, there are other free sites that I have found which work just as great and are all kind of like myspace. www.friendster.com www.xuqa.com www.tagworld.com www.facebook.com (Great site as they have a "marketplace" which lets you advertise your business or product for free" www.directmatches.com (Free to join but will ask for a fee after awhile, but I still get a lot of visibility even though I haven't paid) www.bolt.com I don't get paid for telling you about these sites.. I've just spent hours looking for these kind of social networking sites to advertise on. Works great and a lot of my cousins who are in college are on them. Feel free to add me as a friend on any of them... My screen name or id is always savvytravelplans Robin Owner Savvy Travel Plans Your Online Travel Store Private Reply to Robin Wms |

Maree | | I have 3 profiles on Myspace - two business and one is based on my book I wrote about a heap of people on Ryze.
I actually found that one page profiles on Myspace are more effective than many pages on your own official website. I have found the most incredible, diverse people on Myspace to network with - found more artists for my team, soul friends who support me in my projects via a fan base AND people willing to help me via free work for my business. One guy is donating US$200,000 worth of free artwork to do my logo and castle plans and all he wants in return is his name on it for credit. I have added him as a team member and official Castle Knight (spokesman) with our other celebrities as a thankyou.
I now have a huge fanbase with all 3 combined and have celebrities actually chasing ME to entertain at the castle when built. And my co business partner and I have received mind blowing invitations world wide to attend.
Myspace puts the fun into business so it's not so stuff-shirt and given me millions of ideas. My only advice is that if someone sends you sexually explicit material - make sure that it is a hacker before you blame the profile owner because more times than most its a hacker. Get to know your friends so you know they are not like that and if received; change your password immediately.
Overall, I prefer it far more than Ryze because of the music content, the friendships, the fun and hey...where else can you personally contact all the top celebs to do business with them!

Julie Henrikson | | Hey I just wanted to also say to beware of crossing the line of spamming. I have a myspace account and I get so tired of denying people with their spamming. If you want to market on myspace I would create 2 accounts. Use one at first just as a personal account, then after a while start up with kind of a "business" one. This way you can kinda see how things work on there and see what you don't like that comes to you. After that you can see what you don't want to do to people and what you could do :) Well I hope that will help a little. Have a great day and maybe talk to you soon.

Woody Quinones | | Ian del Carmen has a book out about marketing on Myspace.
It's called "Building A Business Network through MySpace" and can be found at Get-This-Report.com
I read it and if I was putting together a MySpace account I would follow his advice. It's very detailed and easy to understand if you are a complete newbie to MySpace.

Sharif Khan | | Thank you all for the GREAT MySpace marketing advice! Keep the tips coming! I made a HUGE mistake on Myspace. I had close to 3,000 friends on MySpace and thought I could do no wrong. That's until I posted an invitation to join a free marketing seminar breakfast on a classified ad. A few days later, without any warning, MySpace shut my account down! (And this was not a direct link to an affiliate website but a link to my blog).
All that hard work wasted! Lesson: DO NOT include or post any affiliate links on Myspace! I had an affiliate link on my profile and I also sent out occasional bulletin post invites to attend an educational seminar or consider an educational product. I always balanced my posts with really useful, genuine articles and information and never did any aggressive marketing like those questionable biz opportunity posts or aggresively recruiting for MLMs.
But in the end, I lost my account, and I'm still not really sure what the specific reason was because I was operating the same way for several months without anything going wrong.
Myspace will simply shut down a profile without even the slightest thought or consideration. I will no longer spend most of my efforts in building a community on any one social networking site, because of this negative experience. It left me with a hollow, empty feeling when I got the email saying my account was shut down with no recourse.

Fred Keller | | Hi Sharif, That is a MEGA-Ouch when you are shut-down....I understand completely. (been there...had it done 2 me 2 - not funny!!)
But - there is hope!
What If ..... you create your own environment that You control?
You work on your time , under your rules..... and not get wiped out by someoneelse's idea of how the World should turn. You turn it any way you wish!
Would that be great or what...???
Good news - there is a great way: I invite you to explore the link below......
You will be absolutely amazed! Spend a lot of time researching it. Lots of great nuggets of info too.

Sharif Khan | | Fred, thanks for the head's up and the encouragement. I'll take a look at the link. I think that's the best way to go for visionary thinking entrepreneurs: to start their own social networking forum.
Cheers,

Fred Keller | | Hi Sharif,
That is very perceptive! Yes - by controlling your Enterprise, you can select something of great interest to you.... that you are passionate about. Before long, you will be attracting like-minded people. What fun!
This makes for a very interesting and satisfying life.
Remember - anything built well takes time and effort. The upside is - it will last a long time .... and .... who knows, may even be developed into an income stream(s) should you choose that might even supplement your pension when the time comes...or more. :o)
Good Fortune to You!
Keep Smiling!
Fred

Jillyan Walker | | I feel your pain and was going to post a post warning everyone not to spend too much time in myspace, my son who has been trying to promote his music on myspace has had his account shut down the same way...no warning, no reason, just months of social networking, and getting hits to site in the hundreds of thousands, poof woke one morning it was all gone, talk about hurting a young kids dreams...sheese, so I don't mess with myspace, plus there are too many virus that hit the computer through some of the profiles....
beware...but there are some really wonderful biz groups that are on there, just...use common sense and caution..
