www.Karlyns.com - Graphic Designer | | .. from my brother, that someone is planning to write a book about my great-aunt Irene. I know very little now, but should find out more this weekend. Irene Lentz (she went by irene with a small "i") was a Hollywood designer back in the 40's-50's. I thought this was interesting news and wanted to share it. It's quite coincidental too, as I've been doing some of my own causal research on her and have seen a lot more files pop up on the internet lately.. much more than years ago, when I first sought after info. I recently posted some information about her on one of my sites, and then now to hear this today, it was quite a surprise.

That's fantastic! I'm glad to hear it. There seems to be a revival of interest in the classic film era & all folks surrounding it. This is, of course, a good thing in my book (literally & figuratively!).
In fact, I read the last word on my 1st Robert Taylor book edit late last night. It's off to indy editors for a go-thru before rtning to the publisher. I mention this because I thought of you & your aunt yesterday as I was going over text, thinking of the directors, actors . . . & designers. What a fantastic era!
Please keep us up-to-date. I'd love to know who's writing the book & all about the details.

In a way I envy your aunt be in the mix of things in what was truly the golden era of Hollywood. The excitement one must have lived daily as the entertainment industry was growing in leaps and bounds. It was probably the last of what was considered the "innocence" era in Hollywood as well.

Her interview went well and she said it was so interesting. She was able to help with some information and found out some things she did not know as well.. it was a 4 hour discussion. So much research goes into this, it's amazing!

All these years later and then suddenly two authors contact our family within a couple weeks of each other, both writing a book about her. I just thought I'd share the news. It's strange, but exciting.

This is fantastic news! Obviously it means great things to your family but it also means something insofar as the classic film industry is concerned. I've noticed a growing renewed interest in old Hollywood & of course I think that's fantastic. Life is indeed cyclical. What was old is always at some point new again. And there does seem to be a cosmic or Universal or God-directed (fill in the blank) shift of consciousness. It's an energy of some sort that comes to fruition &, "suddenly," there are people who are there, willing to bring the past back to life.
What was your response to this latest author? Will you & your family cooperate w/this author or the other, or both . . . or none of the above? Having the family onboard for this type of book can be crucial to accuracy & the tone of the finished product.
Sounds wonderful. I'm hoping it doesn't take TOO long for there to be at least one book in the works. Yeah! for old Hollywood!

This second author has been researching Irene for 10 years and has tried for many of those years to reach my Mom, so he was quite pleased to have found us through a post on one of my sites that linked us.
This guy is almost done with his book and the publisher's ready, so now that he's interviewed my mom, he'll be wrapping things up for publication.
My mother was interviewed by the first author as well.
This second author and I have shared several emails back and forth. He actually knew Irene when he was young, so it's also a sentimental journey back in time for him as well. He's the nicest man, and is willing to share so much information with us, including alot of his original photo and document finds he's accumulated, that we don't have.
We're very much looking forward to both books as both authors have a great respect for her work as one of the greatest designers of the 20th century. We're very excited!
