In July, the only places worth visiting in India (that I can think of) are Kerala (gorgeous place, try to stay at the CGH Earth group's hotels which are all over Kerala), Goa and the hill stations (avoid the popular hill stations, they will be teeming with people). If you want more details, do let me know ! Rajasthan is a great place to visit but can only be visited in winter.

I love the monsoons to a visit to kerala according to me would be wonderful. but for a tourist and that too with a 2 yr old it isnt the best thing to do.Pls specify what you are seeking cos India has a lot of possibilities.

July is lovely in the hill stations of the western ghats (ooty, conoor, kodai) and that of lower himalayas (musoorie, parts of HP, etc. where there isn't usually any landslide to block roads). quite kid-safe.

Thanks guys for all your options. I was thinking to do some relaxing (so a good resort) + a bit of site-seeing. I wud have to go south to see my parents so i was thinking something around the south itself. wud lov to go to kerala cos havent been there. how r the hillstations during monsoons ?
