I want to speak about Diabetes and Anxiety Disorder | Views: 800 |

Asif Quddussi | | Dear Speakers,
I suffer from Anxiety Disorder, Migraine Headaches and Amnesia. I am also a diabetic. The combination of all four of these medical conditions can leave you practically speechless. But I can speak which brings me to the subject of educating our society about the mentioned matters. And the only way we can do it is by speaking. Speaking about anything and everything.
Wishing everybody a happy and healthy life.
Let us all help those who need our help with the charity of words.

Murray Farrell | | I don't know about all four; but I do know that diabetes is a very nasty disease and that currently there is a 'diabetes epidemic'. The growth of diabetes over a 5 year window 2001-2006 has been as much as 87% in some communities here. And that is amongst people who now know they have the disease. (see http://www.dav.org.au/epidemic/index.htm)
The sad thing is that half those poeple who do have diabetes in one form or another are NOT aware of their condition. Maybe the growth rate is due to education programmes and diagnosis being made. But with the current 'fat kid' syndrome, poor diet and little exercise, diabetes treatment could become the growth industry of the medical world.
So I say go for it, based on Australian statistics, there is still a lot of work to be done in the education/awareness areas. But how you are going to get paid for it is another matter.
Regards,
Murray PS I have Type II NIDS and am a volunteer speaker on Kidney Health which is affected by diabetes.

Asif Quddussi | | Hello,
I will start replying with your last statement. I don't intend to get paid for the kind of service I would like to provide. The simple fact is that I can speak without any problem and it does not cost me anything to use the skill GOD has given me for free.
Yes, I did buy the words that are put in my mouth by getting the education I paid for but I will leave it up to my listeners if they believe I am worth paying.
Diabetes awareness requires more of social work than medical. I have learned several techniques to control blood sugar through herbal treatment. I am sure people know about them too but are not using it efficiently due to lack of knowledge, not necessarily lack of education.
I would like people to understand that Diabetes starts with DIA, not with DIE.
