I am looking for a head of legal function for one of our clients at Bangalore
JOB PURPOSE What is the main purpose or objective of the job; and what will it contribute to the overall business of the company. 1.Provide Legal support to the management and ensure compliance of all statutory laws 2.Provide prompt guidance with regards to interpretation of various laws 3.Develop and recommend company policy and position on legal issues
WORK RELATIONS Main interfaces- with whom do you have regular contact in carrying out your duties (whom do you report to/who do you functionally report to/whom do you have interface within and outside the organization?)
Internal Interface – All functional heads and key managers
External Interface – Interaction with concerned regulatory bodies, Law consultants.
Reporting – Position reports to CFO of the company.
CRITICAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1.Streamline the various processes in legal dept by formulating standard operating procedures/checklists to improve efficiencies and reduce the possibility of apparent errors to avoid penalties and prosecutions 2.Avoid litigations through proactively suggesting and implementing various measures and strategies 3.Provide analysis and counsel on legal issues to include; protecting intellectual property, mergers & acquisitions, financial structuring, nondisclosure agreements, outsourcing agreements and business strategic planning 4.Represent the company or its officials in various legal proceedings 5.Setting in place processes to effectively tackle misbranding cases / infringements of company’s services
QUALIFICATIONS Law degree (Preferably from National Law School or any school equivalent) with 6 to 10 years experience in a multi business and multi locational organization. Skills and Knowledge -Able to handle work under pressure and stress with a balanced mind -Commitment to achieve results besides being technically sound -Thorough and broad understanding of various corporate and labour laws -Ability to analyse case laws and provide appropriate recommendations -Effective written and oral communication skills
