Cost increase can be easily trended - divide 70 by the percentage of annual increase in cost and you will see about when your electrical cost will double assuming no increase in use. For example, if you cost per kilowatt hour is increasing at a 5% annual rate, your cost for each kilowatt will double in about 14 years (70/5). A 10% annual increase will double your costs in 7 years. Do these costs enter into your hardware selection process, or into your TCO estimates on new projects?
