Help!!! How to record speeches to create products | Views: 1300 |

Rasheed Hooda | | Does anyone here record their speeches to create products such as audio CDs?
If so what recording equipment do you use? Portable or stationary?
Is recording directly on CDs or mini discs better than using MP3 recorders? If so how or why? If not, what's the difference?
Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.
A professional speaker who teaches about creating products recommended using Sony MD recorder, but they don't make them anymore and the only ones available are used ones at ebay. My son says MP3 recorders have gotten better in quality. Any comments or suggestions?

Lisa Braithwaite | | The Olympus WS-300M was recommended in a seminar I attended by Dan Poynter. I found one at my local Radio Shack for about $100. The recorder breaks down into two parts and one half of it has the USB plug - really handy.
I then went back and bought a lapel mic for it. In playing around with it, the sound quality is good. I haven't yet used it to record a seminar though, although I expect to put it to the test for a presentation next week.

Rasheed Hooda | | I found a Sharp MD-MT90 on e-bay for next to nothing, then bought a omni directional mic from Wal-Mart. I recorded a seminar last Tuesday and the sound quality is impressive. I am currently working on editing it. I will keep you posted on what I learn.

SummerNM | | Rasheed, What program do you use to edit your recording? Can you add in intro/exit music?

Lisa Braithwaite | | I wanted to report back as well; the Olympus sound quality is excellent.
And I'm using WavePad to edit. You can add music and do all kinds of things in WavePad.

Rasheed Hooda | | Michele,
I used Audacity (www.audacity.com) and yes, it has the capacity to add intro and exit music, though I have not yet done that. I am looking for some good Free or inexpensive music I can use. Does anyone have any recommendation?
Audacity is a Free program and you will have to download MP3 converter separately which is also available free.

SummerNM | | I just downloaded for a very small fee (.68/song)podsafe music -- music that does not infringe upon any rights - at www.dmusic.com
I used 1 song as my opening/close music for my radio show. And, the other song as background for my promo spots.
Hope that helps.
