Tomorrow, June 29th, two special meetings are taking place. One happens at Perry's Deli at 8 a.m. The other happens at the Backyard Gardens Oasis at 4:30 p.m.
The meeting at Perry Deli's will be just three people meeting on behalf of the Middletown Area Town Hall to look at certain options regarding effectively getting the word out to the community about economic development options for Middletown. I am hoping we will be able to get a Community Bulletin Board built outside the local post office.
The meeting at 4:30 p.m. at the Backyard Gardens Oasis will be to discuss the promotion of the July 29th MABA Mixer, which will be held there. This will be a membership renewal mixer. A large turnout is needed. We want to repeat the success of our May 17th mixer at the Greenview Restaurant, but with double the number of attendees. Funds for more food has already been set aside. But, we do not want to rely on food alone to the the sole attraction. My hope is that we can entice more folks to be involved through demonstrations of our community outreach. Much of that centers around how MABA helped make "Middletown Days" a big success this year - despite problems from the Middletown Central Park Association. (They actually called an emergency meeting the night of our May 17th mixer in honor of "Middletown Days" so their own members - our honored special guests - would not be attending.) Nowhere is that better demonstrated that the centerfold article which ended up being in the June 13th issue of the Lake County Record-Bee. If I can get the Record-Bee to put that article online, I will provide a link to it so all of you can read it. The text of the article was originally written done for travel magazine. It was not done for the a newspaper. But, because one savvy newspaper ad sales rep went to that May 17th mixer, marketing magic happened for "Middletown Days" on Father's Day Weekend this year. I hope I will be able to show you what that looks like.
