It's been awhile . . . sorry I've been off the charts. Lots going on. I guess I just have to get used to the fact that my "MO" is to push on, then retreat a bit, then come back, etc, etc.
Thought I'd share w/you an interesting happening in my life of late. I'm working with a local business incubator--they literally grow businesses--doing some writing for their clients, some exec organizational work--& have met an interesting man who is starting his own business.
We chat a lot. He loves to talk & has fascinating stories to tell. Knowing about my interest in Hollywood, movies, & actors in general, he told me about a friend of his -- the widow of Jack Kelly, the man who was the original "Maverick," before James Garner came into the picture. One thing led to another, & he called her & told her about me.
I just got off the phone w/her a bit ago. We're going to do an article on Kelly & see where that leads us. Life is strange . . . you never know who you're gonna meet!
Blessings -- Linda

Some are surprises! Our job is to be aware and answer that door when we hear opportunity knocking!
Glad to hear you are busy and doing well. Hugs, GlorindaPrivate Reply to Glorinda Marie | Aug 09, 2007 1:27 am | | re: re: Life is Strange | # | Linda J. Alexander http://www.lindajalexander.net | | Glorinda:
I agree . . . we DO draw people to us & that in & of itself is a study in positive thought. We have to watch WHO we draw to us, don't we? Who'd a thunk that the daughter of such a long-running TV star--of a show I watched as a young child, no less--would live less than 45 minutes from me? I'm looking forward to delving into this.
How are you doing? I'll bet YOU've been busy! What have you tried out for recently?
And do you know anyone interested in working on a Robert Taylor film or TV bio?!
Blessings -- Linda

I have a dear friend who has suffered a dibilitating depression which landed her in the hospital. She's a single Mother (2 girls) living with a well to do Mother. It would appear that her depression sprung from feeling alone and alienated. Now that she's 'graduated' from her hospital stay, single Mothers seem to be coming out of the woodwork. She had no clue that that many single lived in her town.
When she told me her story, I couldn't help but think that her focus attracted her new friends and brought sunshine back into her life. Life isn't strange; our resistance is.

OUR BANK ACCOUNT
A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed Each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and Shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home,he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.
As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual Description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window." I love it," he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy. "Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait." "That doesn't have anything to do with it," he replied. "Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged... it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it. "It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away. Just for this time in my life.
Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in. So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories! Thank you for your part in filling my memory bank. I am still depositing."
Remember the five simple rules to be happy: 1. Free your heart from hatred. 2. Free your mind from worries. 3. Live simply. 4. Give more. 5. Expect less.Private Reply to Glorinda Marie | |
