Udaya Shankar Puranik | | Thimakka's and her husband loves children. It was a shock to them to know they could not have children.
Poor they were but had the spirit to live and succeed in face of adversity.
The village in India, where they live has shortage of water resources. Trees were far and few and it was plain land everywhere.
Thimakka and her husband, decided to grow trees alongside the road to thier village. People laughed at this idea. Where is the water for the plants to grow? they asked.
But unfazed by criticisim the couple planted hundreds of trees. They trekked miles every day to get water for these trees.
Today, Thimakka is about 70 years old and alone. Her husband died few years ago. But thier hundreds of children have grown large and strong.
These trees have brought shade and are home to hundreds of birds. Song of Nature, the human spirit, all owe it to a determined couple.
