I have a dog that gets car sick, even on a short trip to get her nails clipped. No fun to have to ride around with the mess

if your dog gets sick while traveling, you can feed him ginger which helps with the stomach queasiness
I'm working on a new creation for just that occasion :)

The doggy car sick pills don't seem to help, so I am looking at alternatives. I'll see if I can get Lady to eat some ginger in with her dog food or perhaps the candied ginger

Hi everyone,

I'm not a dog trainer, however I've heard that with many dogs this can be solved by desensitizing the dog by putting the dog in the car and taking her out, putting her in the car and diving three feet, putting her in the car and driving five feet, etc. With some puppies, an upset tummy is part of being a baby, and then when the dog is an adult, it’s that memory of feeling sick that’s a problem and it can be overcome when approached gradually.

Happy Holidays!

I wish this worked, we tried it with Lady. She was not a young dog when we got her. Lady even puked on the way to my house, in the car of the rescue lady from Annie's Orphans. They gave me her meds for it. Even with them she pukes. Lady rides well in the car and seems to enjoy the trips, especially since we take her to the park or on a picnic. Her daddy Andy has devised a special restraint that works with her harness, so that she and her sister CiCi can ride safely. Lady is one of only two dogs I have had that had no interest in stickling her head out the window to catch all the interesting scents along the way. Perhaps she hates smog and the car smells.

CiCi enjoys the ride because daddy opens the car window for her. Once when she was impatient with daddy, she reached down and touched the window controls. Andy said he never though he would need to encage the child-protector features of the PT Cruiser, but CiCi is a very clever pup!

A lot dogs are like Humans its that motion movement that gets them. My self I get motion sickness riding in back seat, does not bother me in front..
