it has come a long way and our technology does do a lot of the work for us...but i have to say yes it helps cut time. i do have my fears of glitches in programs and digital storage units for very important information...but for me personally it helps me make more time to get to know my clients. that way im not fussing with things that i can do automatically...like payments.
as for the computer it has boosted my communication with my clients and i even get raves from prospecting clients how impressed they are that i take the time i do via emails and on the phone to talk with them. usually the business owners are done at 6pm and business ends there...although i may be home i continue to help those who need to know about me and my work. i dont loose too much time from my family as i can send an email and walk into the living room for family movies or whatever we may be doing....then everyone is happy.
i started my business with the ease of doing it online...outstanding time saver of having to go stand in a line downtown. saves me in childcare when i do business from home...so on. another life saver for me in techno world is the auto emails, auto reminders, auto phone calls...so on. With me doing 500 things at once i usually forget quite often 5 mins from doing something else. so the auto things in life really help me personally.

WHile I am now doing heating and cooling on the commercial side,while I was doing it for residential customers to many would go online to price check. If a part would cost me $100. and I would charge $175. People now will want to know why I would charge 75 dollars more because they looked it up online.Same with labor,people will say ....the other guy is 10 dollars cheaper..
I am all for saving money,but come on..lol
so there it is..the other side of the debate!! lol lol
