My dog the hunter...anyone else have similar experience?Views: 1193

So this week was fun, my Oreo was running around the house barking and scratching the AC/heat vents on the floor boards... so I called pest control and lo and behold, a 50 pound opossum was living under the house in the crawl space!

Way to go Oreo!

Anyone else have a similar experience? Our dogs are amazing!

We used to have a family of skunks living under us. We didn't need the keen senses of Candy or Champ to figure that one out!

Just the same that pair was amazing!

A trait that I always find amazing in dogs is their unconditional patience. They will stick with us, soooo patiently when we're sick. They don't bug us or push us or try to make us do what we can't do. They don't seem sad about it or annoyed or put out. They can just "be."

The minute we are better they know it! Then they will dog us for the walk and affection and the other treats they'd been doing without.

I can't sit that patiently with myself of anyone. I still have so much to learn - from them.

Great topic. Thanks.

Viveca

My younger dog, 18 months, has some issue going on with our grill in the backyard lately.

We have a cover on it, and don’t use it much except during the summertime and even then rarely.

But everytime she goes out she is under that cover. We can’t figure out what is driving her, we looked thoroughly and don’t see anyone living in it, but she’s persistent.

She has her head under the cover, I go there to lift it and see what’s going on and nothing is going on. She's just there looking at me as if to say, "isn't this fun?"

What gives ?

You use the grill to cook meat, the dog can smell it, even if it was months ago . . .

Probably would not make a great drug sniffing dog, but could sniff out people bringing in contraband foods
