Chandrashekhar | | I've noticed some imported Belgian Beer served in Bangalore in some pubs and it's also available in some wine stores.
I tried a few. There's about 10 of em. Pretty good stuff.
The Chimay ones are the ones whose names I remember

But I liked the "Christop.... something" best. Kind of like Blue Moon.Private Reply to Chandrashekhar |

angshuman sarkar | | Belgians, especially flemish, think their beers are the best in the world and wouldn't consider Aussie/German beers any worth! :)
Chimay is nice, although the kinds that are served here are extremely overpriced and nowhere close to the best of what they have or others.
Each town in Flanders has its special beer. And each beer will have its unique glass/mug/jars. I had good opportunity to explore quite a few ..
the bests 1) Duvel 2) Westmalle 3) Jupiler 4) Maes 5) Koninck 6) Kriek 7) Trapist/Tripel 8) Rodenbach (Flemish red) 9) Hoegarden
actually there are so many .. that tiny country makes more than 500 types of beer! Not counting the various monastry brewed ones. I used to buy from one such monastry who also used to serve their special cheese which is just heavenly with their brew
Theres this place called "Brugs beertje", a cafe in Brugge where if you would taste a different beer everyday, you would take more than 1.5 years to finish their collection. (Banana beer including) http://www.brugsbeertje.be/
Btw, Beer in flemish is actually bear. and Bier is actually beer ... "Brugs beertje" actually means "small bear of brugge" :)

Aparna Singh | | Recently I visited Sam's (Fraser Town) and noticed that they stocked quite a few brands. Check them out. (I think they are on St. John's Road) Private Reply to Aparna Singh |

Madhu Menon | | My cousin handles the marketing for the Belgian beer. She tells me that Spar, Spencers, and Sam's Wines all stock the beer at about Rs. 165 a bottle.
They also do home deliveries for a minimum of one case.Private Reply to Madhu Menon |

Abhishek | | Hi SIGs !
Thanks for the feedback on the location. I went to spencers yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see all the internationally distributed belgian beer.
They have chimay (red, white, blue), cristoffel, orval, and arabier all costing INR 166.62.
The funny thing is that all imported stuff is now the same price in india as in US. A belgian beer generally costs $4 and above and its the same here (shipping free :)
And its the same for lots of other stuff like cheese etc which i unfortunately bought from italy and found exact same stuff much cheaper here in india.
Anyways thanks again....enjoy belgian beer :)
Ciao
