If you want to create news media buzz you certainly have a lot of options. Problem is, most can be very expensive. While there are some online services willing to publish your email message to the world, you have no guarantee that anyone is really going to care that it is there.

For that reason, I decided to do something rather unconventional. I decided to request friends send me email as "Dear Editor" letters, which I would in turn print out and mail - five to an envelope - and mail to the media myself. Problem is, this is quite time-consuming. It also can be expensive in terms of ink, paper and postage. (Not all that great a deal as I initially thought.) But, I had also decided to post these letters online on a Squidoo lens. As I began processing my first group of printed letters for a mailing, the obviously hit me. I should not be snail mailing anything. I should be sending emails out with the website link to the Squidoo site included. That way the news media can see ALL the "Dear Editor" letters from around the world. They can then choose to copy and print as many or as few of the letters as they desire. No need for printing, envelopes, or postage. I not only save time and money but can now afford to reach out to MORE media folks.
