It seems Article 19 (i) - (e) is inadmissible within 130 Km radius of Mumbai unless that line crosses Maharashtra.

Thank you Basab.

Thanks for putting the thread on top like only you can.

Just in case you have not read the first post very carefully . . . . i reproduce from the same . . . .

i add here that some FUFA members who are presently involved in the said efforts do not overlap this activity with any other activity in their lives. the resources deployed by them for the welfare of adiwasis are independant of any political, ideological, religious, casteist, ethnic, linguistic, gender or other barriers.

the beneficiaries of the support and welfare schemes gain economically, medically, educationally and culturally.

all support received in cash and kind by the institutions concerned is audited regularly as per the law of the land.

our moderator knows some of the FUFA members involved and can testify about the statements made herein. i am constrained by my respect for their privacy and therefore i shall refrain from naming any of them.

to those who have written in response to these frequent appeals i can only say thank you on behalf of the beneficiaries of their support. some have offered good advise, others have regularly donated cash, kind and volunteered to serve, and many others have expressed their understanding, appreciation, gratitude and admiration whilst encouraging the front line to keep up the efforts.

Soeb, I am casting no aspertions on the FuFa members who are involved in this work. But since it is limited within Maharashtra, I am not sure the 'Marathi Manoos' sentiment as distortedly projected by MNS and Shiv sena does not rule the roost among these 'Adivasis'. Does the work that is done for them try to open their minds to the vision of being a pan Indian citizen, not just a 'Marathi Manoos'?

That, in my opinion, should be an integral part of any upliftment program.

my dear Basab it appears that you are not reading very well today. i reproduce from my post for your benefit.

"the resources deployed by them for the welfare of adiwasis are independant of any political, ideological, religious, casteist, ethnic, linguistic, gender or other barriers."

i further add for your benefit that the geographical boundaries of our efforts are global.

no nation can live like an island of development and the slightest turbulence in the ecosystem anywhere sends out signals that no region in the system can afford to ignore.

the present thread was to especially invite part time volunteers for special efforts on initiatives in the region and applicable boundary conditions were enumerated to facilitate easy communication. we work on thin volunteer resources and we can be effective only if we keep each communication focused.

you shall surely also appreciate that each initiative has a specific thrust and the thrust of these efforts is neutral to any form of belief systems.

in case you seek broader information and/or desire to contribute ideas, resources and time then for that you have my email address and cell phone number.

The issues Marathi manoos being discussed are political and urban.

The rural people and the people below the poverty line are still struggling for a square meal

Soeb bhai, way to go. Hum aapke saath the aur rahenge

Let what Raj and his fellows do remain with them.

Those misdeeds can never be an excuse to witheld any humanitarian services to the rest of them, or even to MNS activists too. If witheld saying 'You tresspassed my right so no help to You', then what is the meaning of a 'Humanitarian' service?.

Adivasis are adivasis not by choice. they have been born that way. That doesn't undermine their rights to live a life in standard living environments.

All the best Mr. Soeb on Your efforts.

Tackling Adivasi problems is a ticklish issue. A lot of tradition has been destroyed and Adivasis have been devastated by well meaning but ignorant Voluntary organisations and individuals and also evangelist missionaries.

One has to be very careful while making upliftment programs for Adivasis. What is upliftment for us urbanites, may not be what they need or want.

I'd be intrested in knowing how much of this upliftment program is focussed towards making their traditional livlihood sustainable.

Cheers!

A simple list of initiatives will do. I do not need to AUDIT your efforts, I trust your integrity.

In this connection, let me share an experience I had when we were NSS volunteers. We were invited by a Christian missionary who was working among Adivasis around Kharagpur area, to erect some shelters made of steel framework and sheet roofing and cladding. He was given these by the Government (dismantled material from the refugee colonies set up in nearby areas during 1971 war) free of cost to set up housing for the poor in the area. We found that this gentleman was leveraging such facilities obtained from the Government to convert the Adivasis into Christianity and over the years, have almost completely changed the livelihood pattern for those he converted. He trained the able bodied men and women in various trades like fitters and welders (for the men) and care givers and domestic help (for the women) and sent them for employment in big cities. As a result, only old and infirm people were left in the villages, who could not till the lands (their traditional livelihood) they owned and subsisted on the money sent by their young from cities. As a result, large tracts of agricultural land were left fallow. This, I believe was a national loss, which came about due to a well meaning but misplaced initiative by a missionary.
