(TBC) Network. TBC was created, in early 2007, to bring
professionals together to learn, grow and succeed in the
business world. Please jump in and share your thoughts,

My name is Susan McCool and I am the founder
of TBC. I created TBC so that I could establish a network
of professionals that want to share in their experiences
- good and bad. I don't see failure as a ruined attempt.
There is no such thing as a failure. Each "failure"
is actually a learning curve; an experience that we can
learn and grow from. It is just another stepping stone to
the great success we will all achieve. I encourage everyone
to share in their experiences here at The Business Consortium
so we can all learn together.
A little about me...
I am a young entrepreneur. Apparently, I
always have been. I remember being about 6 or 7 years old.
We lived in the "city" then - not a big city,
but still a city. We had a little convenience store that
was directly across our little neighborhood street. I remember
my parents asking me to go across the street to pick up
milk, bread, etc. Well, of course, my time didn't come free
in those days, either! I would charge my parents "gas
money" to walk across the street and make their purchases.
My clever little money-making business expanded into charging
other family and friends. I saved all of my money until
I was able to buy something big.
That entrepreneurial spirit never left me.
I worked in the J-O-B rat race managing businesses for my
employers and handling their bookkeeping and anything else
that was thrown at me. Everyday, I wished I could start
my own business. I just didn't have the guts to take the
plunge. Then, one day I did. I began my entrepreneurial
journey in direct sales - PartyLite. I did fairly well,
but this business was not for me. It wasn't creative and
challenging enough. My next business venture was that of
a Virtual Assistant - Virtual
Office Associates. This business was more "me,"
and I still operate it. I developed a fantastic business
model. But, I still wasn't quite happy with my business.
I started toying with the idea of moving from a do-it-all
VA to a more streamlined business providing the services
I enjoyed most - Marketing and Design. I mentored with Denise
Michaels for several months. Within my first session, Denise
had intuitively picked up on my indecisiveness about my
business. She recommended the same idea I had toyed with
and I knew that her validation of my thoughts was the boost
I needed to continue.
I started Spotlight
Marketing and Design shortly after I began this network. Spotlight
Marketing and Design is a marketing and design firm specializing
in Internet Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, Web & Graphic
Design and more. I have 8 years of experience in these fields
and now teach other business owners how to handle their "techy"
business needs. This is the creative business I was searching
for. This is what fulfills me. Because of my passion for this
business and its success, I gained a few clients right away -
mostly project work. Then, I found Marilyn Jenett, our Prosperity
Expert. Exactly two weeks after starting her Feel Free to Prosper
program, I landed another terrific client and my business has
been growing ever since - along with my happiness.

Felicia
J. Slattery, M.A., M.Ad.Ed. is a communication
consultant, speaker and coach specializing in

Paul Steven
Professional Photographer
Paul
and his wife Sara both lived in New York for
many years. They moved to Southeast Florida
about 13-15 years ago (pf & sf respectively)
after they realized that they would enjoy a
warmer climate for the entire year. Sara actually
was born in Israel, after eight years old moved
to Philadelphia, then New York, Forest Hills,
Queens. Sara's dad operated a Romanian Deli
on Queens BLVD. She remembers the small space
they had to work quickly in when preparing lunches
and dinners for their customers. Paul was born
in Brooklyn, New York and lived on Newkirk Avenue
for his first 9 months after coming out into
the world. Later moving to Rockland County,
New York for many years. Both Sara and Paul
went to college. Sara went to St John's University
and Paul went to Rochester Institute of Technology.
Sara studied business and Paul studied photography
and business.
They both have a bachelors of science business
degree. Sara put herself through school while
working full time for the Dean's office and
commuted over 2 hours back and forth to school
with the mass transit in NYC. Paul went to Rockland
Country Day School in Congers, NY and then college
in upstate Rochester, NY and studied photography
first, then completed a business degree from
St Thomas Aquinas college.
