What work are you willing to take up on an outsourced basis... Is it the low hanging preparation of dockets or trasncription services, etc or the more high end litigation support and research work

Secondly, if you are looking at a client base as the US legal fraternity, firstly important is the difference in the law of tort between them and us and therefore our understanding the intricacies of US civil law... I think we mirror UK law more, but naturally.

Also, although not unsurmountable, you will need to invest a fair degree of time and effort building up the expertise prior to taking on the outsourcing work... Your fees are typically higher than what a regular call center would charge as this is in the nature of KPO, but at the same token, clients expect you to impart knowledge rather than learn at their expense (like what happens ina regular outsourcing arrangement)...

Typically, foreign law firms who enter into these agreements (as your customers) would require you to work on a Build-Operate-Transfer model... So I would look at sustainability and predictability of revenues closely when building the business model.

Also, you will certainly be subject to a strong Confidentiality and IP agreement that pretty much restricts you from setting up a reusable body of knowledge for multiple clients... Am not sure that you will be able to service multiple firms like a regular BPO can do currently...

There are several more clauses including those specifically related to fees and the manner in which you will be remunerated for your services, performance standards and service levels, record retention and inspection, IP and confidentiality, indemnification and limitation of liability and termination/transfer of facilities and personnel.

Lastly, the domestic partnerships you mention - how do you propose to build a revenue sharing model with your support group in India?

I don't want to sound discouraging but having established and negotiated several large value BPO contracts in the order of between $10-20m each as well as set up BPO operations in two countries earlier, I happen to know this business quite intricately...

PM me with specific questions...

Cheers
S

On my earlier comment on being subject to a strong Confidentiality and IP agreement and not being able to service multiple firms like a regular BPO can do currently...

To clarify further, given that you may be engaging in case specific work for a client when you engage in litigation support and research, you may not be able to duplicate that research into a data base that you can use later... IP that you create out of the research will almost certainly belong to your client...

Hope this helpsas well...

Cheers
