Google Analytics, no charge, easy to use and provides so much for web site owners.
I've just written a small article about Google Analytics on my blog.
The reports this service provides are amazingly helpful and I recommend this service to all web site owners it's so easy to use and offers so much.

Reg Charie | | While I feel it is imperative that one runs metrics, I also feel it is not wise to give the leading search engine too much information about what one is doing.
Everything Google analytics does (and more) can be done by other metrics programs such as awstats.
Personally I run awstats, extremetracking stats, and crazy egg heat mapping.

Did the install this morning looking forward to seeing how it looks after couple of weeks.
I also use Awstats but feel the information is rather general.
Given a bit of spare time I might investigate the other metric tools mentioned.
i can relate to Reg's comment about giving info to Google something like giving it to Microsoft but I must admit I do find the information given very informative and helpful.

I run google analytics on two sites. Awstats on all sites.
Extreme Tracking on about six. SiteMeter on about a dozen.
For my business, it's not imperative to have in depth on
every single site. However, do need a good overview for
all and awstats works great for that. I run different
programs for say the medical field sites than I do for
sales sites. In some instances, it depends on what the
content calls for.
