Dear Members --

We've had plenty of discussion around sales letters. Most people hate those long web sales letters that go on and on and on like the energizer bunny. They all have the same format and their goal is to get you to part with your hard-earned cash.

Well here's a look at the lighter side. A spoof on the long sales letter. If you have a minute, hop on over and read it at http://www.clickhereyouidiot.com/

What do you think?

Best regards,

LOL - I agree and I assume that was the intent?

Are sales letters even relevant anymore? We live in a fast paced, instant gratification world. It's almost like if you don't hit them in the face, don't expect to get their attention.

ROTFL!

I think they are effective, for a specific market demographic. Some people are convinced and buy, others see them as a "introduction to my scam" and don't even read anything beyond the 1st couple sentences.

The key is knowing your market, and what an appropriate call to action is.

Thanks Denise. I enjoyed that and it will definitely get a link on my site.

I react in a similar way to anything that sends me to clickbank.
Now, OK, I know that they are just providing a service, but for some reason, all the usual suspects end up using them for their affiliate profram, so I'm afraid, they get the short end of my patience.
I refuse to buy through ClickBank. chances are what you are about to buy is being offered for free in some promo package somewhere, anyhow.

Another thought:
How come all these people that are such experts and making a fortune out of their knowledge re: Internet marketing, aren't able to get beyond using these kind of template pages that are churned out by bits of software also available for free from your nearest promo site?

Hi Denise,

Thanks for the post- I found that site very funny- especially because they captured all the techniques recommended by many copy writing experts.

I agree with Ron's post that these sales letters can work very well (some of my friends and clients have made millions off of them) when they are targeted effectively and when the copy writing is stellar. But this was a funnny spoof!
