Stephanie Chandler
I'm interested in getting some kind of software application that will allow me to manage content on a website. It needs to have the following features:

*Allow visitors to create a login id and password
*Set up a form that users can fill out and submit
*Push form data into a directory on the website
*The ability to sort and search the directory (content)

The best way I can describe it would be something like what the article content sites use, but I assure you I have no ambitions of trying to compete with them!

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Stephanie Chandler

Stephanie,

Talk to Reg - his Ryze page is http://www.ryze.com/go/RegDCP

He is the "master" of CMS from what I've seen.

Stephanie,
There are a lot of open source programs online that will do what you say.

It all depends on your level of computer expertise/ web design if they would be suitable or not.

It soulds like the easiest way would be to set up a forum.
YOU would have memberships, a way to enter data, (post), and full search capabilities.

A good forum package, (free - open source), is PHPBB.

Question/Commentary - Wouldn't Joomla fall into the CMS category? I am guessing it could match a message board plus some of the other bells and whistles desired but I could be wrong.
