I am a freelance writer and columnist for a number of magazines, one of which is BenefIT magazine, published by EFY India - www.benefitmag.com and www.efyindia.com
I'm currently working on a story on best IT practices that lawyers / law firms have adopted - that is, how you have made computerization work for you.
I would really appreciate any inputs any lawyers on this network have to share, regarding the benefits you have gained from using computers, and any pointers you have to share about implementing computerization. Even brief one / two para inputs would be very useful.
Of course, you will be quoted in the article and the inputs properly attributed as you request.
Will also have a complimentary copy of the magazine issue sent to you.
Look forward to hearing from you by PM.
Best regards,
Charu Bahri http://charubahri.googlepages.com

A lawyer when preparing a case or arguing, needs to rely on the judgements declared by competent authority / Court as precedence and / or for persuasive value. Searching for such caselaws becomes cumbersome given the number of cases being heard and decided. Here computerisation helps a lot by archiving the cases and making the search a lot faster by using the search strings. A lawyer can access such databases online or on CDs by paying the nominal charges and ease his burden. Soem websites like manupatra, indlaw, etc. also have bifurcation such as arbitrations, company law, etc. to help narrow down the search.
Apart from caselaws, many a bareacts, procedures, rules, etc. are also available which again reduce the search time.
A word of caution: All the matter available on the internet is not correct / complete, some notes are added by the website. Hence it is advisable that the search be used for getting reference and the texts be referred from the published texts.Private Reply to Vikas Joshi | |
